Four people arrested in a raid involving tax evasion and weapons charges appeared in federal court Friday afternoon. Authoritites say the men are suspected of being leaders of an anti-government movement called Soverign Movement.
The FBI tells Eyewitness News that this raid goes beyond just Las Vegas. Federal agents raided seven different locations in Nevada, Idaho and also Arizona and this was the result of a three-year investigation.
The scene in a neighborhood near Charleston and Cimarron was chaotic Thursday morning as federal agents from the FBi and ATF targeted a home on Gunther Circle and began removing items, including guns.
Neighbors who witnessed the scene say they saw agents pull as many as 40 weapons from the home. The bomb squad was also called to the neighborhood and neighbors say items were loaded into a cylinder and taken away.
"Blasting caps and whatever they had they loaded that and took it out," said Jim Ashness, neighbor.
Ashness describes his neighbor, Harold Call, who was arrested at the home, as a quiet character. An unsealed indictment shows Call charged with numerous counts of illegally possessing an unregistered machine gun. Authorities allege that Call is one of the leaders of the Nevada Lawmen Group for Public Awareness, a group that is associated with the Sovereign Movement group.
At least three other people were also arrested. They are identified as Jan Alan Lindsey, who is a retired FBI agent and alleged to also be a leader of Nevada Lawmen Group for Public Awareness, Samuel Davis, who is allegedly the national leader of the Soverign Movement and Shawn Rice. Lindsey is charged various counts of income tax evasion, Davis and Rice are facing money laundering charges.

LAS VEGASFour men associated with an anti-government, anti-tax movement have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a three-year FBI investigation.
Samuel Davis, 54, of Council, Idaho; Shawn Rice, 46, of Seligman, Ariz.; Harold Call, 67, of Las Vegas; and Jan Lindsey, of Henderson entered the pleas in federal court in Las Vegas Friday.
Prosecutors say the men are all associated with the sovereign movement, which aims to overthrow the government through “paper terrorism” and violence.
Davis and Rice are facing conspiracy and money laundering charges. Call is charged with possession of an unregistered machine gun. Lindsey is charged with tax evasion.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Lawrence Leavitt released the men until their trial dates, initially scheduled for May. None of the defendants have prior criminal histories.

An unregistered machine gun?! Heavens! That thing could have been used to kill millions of police officers. Or make babies smoke crack. I will sleep better tonight knowing it’s in the all-knowing and all-caring hands of law enforcement. They never do wrong.
What is that? Spit wads?
Don’t be so casual about machineguns.
A gun is a gun is a gun.

I see English is your second language.
Then there's the Machinegun.
Got an Expert in firing and handling an M60 Machinegun. Not only that, I and another fellow did all the machinegun fire for John Wayne's movie "The Green Beret". We fired both M60s and 50 Cal. For effect they had us fire the 50 until the barrel heated up and slumped ~ the "effect" was this kind of really loud banging created as the rounds smacked repeatedly into curved steel as they traveled down the barrel.
Despite headgear I couldn't hear well for a couple of weeks after that.
Yes, machineguns are DIFFERENT. Really DIFFERENT.
paper terrorism? code words for what, I wonder?
