Why is Kertulla doing this?

She's doing it so she and the other Obama Dem minions in Alaska can question Palin's focus on Alaska so as to try and knock her down in 2010. Obama/Axelrod want her out of the picture in 2012.

Alaska lawmakers question Palin focus

JUNEAU, Alaska — Driving home at night from her office at the Capitol, the leader of Alaska’s House Democrats, Rep. Beth Kerttula, often passes the governor’s white-columned mansion and wonders why there aren’t more lights on.

She assumes Gov. Sarah Palin is out of town,...

[snip]

Others grumble that she didn’t seem to reach out to the nearly 60 lawmakers assembled before her.

“I think her speech was not directed to us but right over our heads to a national audience,” said Rep. David Guttenberg, D-Fairbanks, who remembers a much different Palin from just six months ago.

[snip]

Juneau Democrat Kim Elton, a member of the bipartisan Senate majority, predicts Palin will be tested this session.

“Is she going to have a legislative agenda that speaks to a national base, or is she going to have a legislative base that speaks to Alaska’s future? It’s a legitimate question. I’m not sure it’s easy to answer at this time, but I can assure you people will be watching very closely,” Elton said.

"I'm wondering if the rot set in, in the 60's or before?"

I think that the rot set in late in the 19th century at about the same time that the cancer of communism began to bloom with the communards in France, the Marxists in Tsarist Russia, etc. I believe that it lingered under the surface here in America in academia and among the "elite" until it could manifest itself in the form of the manchild Maobama and his ilk. I recall a high school history teacher in the early 1960s who pushed the leftist approved economics of John Maynard Keynes, but at the same time he also taught us fairly thoroughly of the actual history of the United States without editorial content other than he thought F.D. Roosevelt was the second coming of Christ (he hadn't heard of Maobama then). By the 1990s I constantly looked over my children's shoulders in public school to be sure they got the real facts because by then the teachers had no problem manifesting their hatred of the US and its greatness.

The Rot began with the insinuation of outright communists and hardline Socialists into the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration at the highest levels. FDR had a Commie sitting next to him at the Yalta Conference in February 1945 - and it wasn’t Iosif Stalin or Winston Churchill!

Small wonder the Allies conceded so much and received so little. The actual agreement was primarily drafted by Andrei Gromyko (future Soviet leader) and Alger Hiss (then-closeted communist traitor to America), and Sir Gladwyn Jebb.

FDR actually died in April, 1945 and had been in failing health well beforehand, so he was more than weak, malleable to Stalin and easily vulnerable to the unctuous, Wormtongue-like counsels of Hiss.

There was a backlash of vitriolic hatred amongst the Socialist and Communist ranks in the USA, following on the heels of “TailGunner Joe” McCarthy and the HCUA {House Committee on UnAmerican Activities} pursuit of infiltrators.

Richard M. Nixon was at the microphone applying the heat during the hearings which exposed Hiss. This “gotcha” singularly enraged the Reds, and they never forgot nor forgave.

They burrowed underground, taking refuge in tenured positions at Universities, teaching Social Studies at public schools, twisting, mis-educating and perverting young minds, and recruiting agitators, foot soldiers, and cell leaders for the next generation from amongst them...

The rot began as a result of our patriots of the 1950s being shamed by the already-compromised media, and powerful sympathisers in the house and senate (masquerading as advocates for “moderation and decency”) into not vigorously pursuing the Reds down their rat holes, grabbing them by the throats and roughly dragging them into daylight for scrutiny.

Allowing any of them to live, and/or move about freely in American society was tantamount to allowing them to spread the pandemic putridity of their foul political philosophy.

ALl their leading personalities should have been found, indicted, detained, tried and made public examples of...either imprisoned until they were in their sixties, or executed for treason and conspiracy.

That would have been a suitable object lesson - and one which might have been the “ounce of prevention” to have prevented the widespread protest marches, sit-ins, radical bombings, student riots, Black Panther movement, etc...that evidenced the aboveground “bursting forth” of the societal rot that is Socialism/Communism in any and every form.

Well, that’s how the AmericanArchConservative sees it anyway!
