Actually, Ford has a nice big cash reserve and they have both a plan and some great new product coming soon.

And nothing like this Volt, either.

FYI, when Toyota came out with the Prius tech and went around to other makers offering to license it to them, GM said “no,” even though they could have gotten the tech at a huge discount thanks to their alliance with Toyota; they thought nobody would ever buy a hybrid. Mercedes (who controlled Chrysler at the time) said no as they thought that their fuel cell tech was a good idea.

Ford said yes. They then sold a bunch of hybrid Escapes and have gone on to expand the technology to other vehicles in their line.

Yeah, they’re stupid.

On the other hand, they apparently work at their chosen task which is increasing revenue in the service and parts departments. Apparently, they are particularly effective with women. Perhaps they’re not so stupid after all.

I have a buddy in advertising, and I used to rail about this sort of thing to him saying:

"These commercials MAKE ME NEVER WANT TO BUY FROM THE COMPANY THAT RUNS THEM! I find them insulting and idiotic! Why cant they let the products sell themselves on their own merits?"

He would laugh and say YOU arent MOST people.

Yes! If the battery is low the generator (gas) starts. As long as there’s gas in the tank, it will go!
