What a freaking sewer of a world we live in.

I honestly don’t see this being even remotely popular in the U.S. This seems to be straight Japanese insanity.

>> It’s an old cliché that the more repressed a society, the more extreme its pornography <<

Really? That’s not an old cliché; that’s a ridiculous assertion of the left starting in the 1970s.

Let’s go pull out that pornography from 1620s Massachusetts and give that theory a test, shall we?

From the article: (emphasis mine)

While the moral outrage from the New York City Council and Web sites like Jezebel and Shakesville is obviously well-placed, there's little hope that legislation or activism can stem the perversion.

Moral outrage? Hmm sounds like somebody is trying to cram their values down our throats. Where's the tolerance?

What 90% of the world does not realize is that the top floor of almost every Japanese game store is the porn game floor, and a mistrodden trip up the escalator into one of these places reveals games that makes ones like this seem TAME.

Pervs in America are interested in these games enough to pay some other pervs that know Japanese and English well enough to translate the text scripts. Someone picks up on this idea, copyrights it, and sells it. It’s been happening with Japanese cartoon porn forever, so why not video games?

I can say from 1st hand knowledge though that this game is not available to children commercially. Japanese are pretty strict about letting this stuff leak into their own games - the Japanese PTA moms of the 90’s that got tatas of TV, saw to that.

When the foundations crumble, what will the righteous do?

I can’t help but think of Bette Davis’ quote about the bumpy ride.

Yup, but without Slate, repeated freeper posts, and other assorted outrages about this “game,” it would not have received nearly the attention and therefore market that it has. It would have been a flop reaching only a very small group of hardcore pervs. Now some people who wouldn’t have even know about it will read these articles. Some might even — like the author of the Slate piece — try it out.

In other words, for a piece of garbage such as this, all press is going to be negative, but it will also all help get the game distributed far more widely than it would have been otherwise. (I couldn’t bring myself to use the word “good” in any context directly related to the “game” or its press.)
