he Taliban's new top operations officer in southern Afghanistan had been a prisoner at the Guantanamo Bay detention center, the latest example of a freed detainee who took a militant leadership role and a potential complication for the Obama administration's efforts to close the prison. U.S. authorities handed over the detainee to the Afghan government, which in turn released him, according to Pentagon and CIA officials.

Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, formerly Guantanamo prisoner No. 008, was among 13 Afghan prisoners released to the Afghan government in December 2007. Rasoul is now known as Mullah Abdullah Zakir, a nom de guerre that Pentagon and intelligence officials say is used by a Taliban leader who is in charge of operations against U.S. and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan.

I can’t see where the intelligence value of any of these guys outweighs the practical value of having had them “die in combat” before they ever left Afghan territory.

I say let them go, but before you let them go, implant a GPS chip in each of these dopes. Then, everytime you see two or more of these losers within 20 feet of each other, unleash a Hellfire missile off a Predaor drone.

If this crap wasn’t so serious, that would be one hell of a funny sentence!

Do a Snake Pliskin on them. Implant an explosive charge in their necks. 15 minutes off the plane in Afghanistan and BANG!!!!

If it weren’t such a serious matter and if people’s lives were at stake. I would be all for letting them go and letting the situation come back and bitting Odouche bag in a*s.

All the more reason to shoot them on sight and take no prisoners. No quarter give and none returned.

Instead of “don’t ask, don’t tell”, what about “take no prisoners”.

Obama knows that Mullah Abdullah Zakir is a moderate Taliban leader and will be leading the Taliban from the middle.

The moderate Zakir is currently trying to open talks with President Obama with hopes of coming to bipartisan agreements with the president on how to rule Afghanistan. .

Afghanistan is going to be more of a quagmire than Iraq ever was.

The “government” sets a know terrorist free to go back to work.

They are not interested in changing their country.

The centuries old tribal conflicts are ok with them.

It keeps the drugs being grown and they make lots of money with that product.

Plus Pakistan is obviously protecting the terrorists in it's country by the border, and doesn't stop them from continuing the fray.

LOL! Even the Taliban is more realistic than Zero. One of their spokes-trolls came out this morning and said he had no idea what Bambi was talking about, because there ain’t no such animal as a “moderate” Taliban.

"Obama being illogical - Taliban"
"This does not require any response or reaction for this is illogical," Qari Mohammad Yousuf,
a purported spokesman for the insurgent group, said when asked
if its top leader Mullah Mohammad Omar would make any comment about Mr Obama's proposal.
"The Taliban are united, have one leader, one aim, one policy...
I do not know why they are talking about moderate Taliban and what it means?
