'AIR NANCY': PLANE OUTRAGEOUS
The NY Post ^ | March 11, 2009 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 03/11/2009 3:14:44 AM PDT by Scanian

HOUSE Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the Jennifer Lopez of con gressional travel - fickle, demanding and notoriously insensitive to the time, costs and energy needed to accommodate her endless demands. On Tuesday, the indispensable government watchdog Judicial Watch released a trove of public records through the Freedom of Information Act on Pelosi's travel arrangements with the US military.

As speaker, Pelosi is entitled to reasonable military protection and transport. But it's the size of the planes, the frequency of requests and last-minute cancellations, and the political nature of many of her trips that scream out for accountability.

And, of course, it's the hypocrisy. There's the eco-hypocrisy of the Democratic leader who wags her finger at the rest of us for our too-big carbon footprints, and crusades for massive taxes and regulation to reduce global warming. Then there's the Bay Area hypocrisy of the woman who represents one of the most anti-military areas of the country soaking up military resources to shuttle her (and her many family members) across the country almost every weekend.

Congressional and Executive Democrats: do as we say and not as we do, with respect to taxes, carbon footprints, and taking advantage of the perqs and privileges of rank. They feel they are not accountable to anyone. Time it disabuse them of that notion.

“If the American people don’t throw these disgusting ticks on their backs out in the next election and demand real reform we really can believe in we will no longer have a free country.”

The problem here is that Paluzie’s district is made up
of nothing but drugged nuts and fruits.
As long as she is a leftist democrat with a big D, they will
keep her for life

Recently, after extreme scrutiny from the media and Dem watchdogs, Sarah Palin was required to reimburse the state coffers for the cost of flying her CHILDREN in the plane with her. Can someone please explain how this is different from Pelosi.

There are several different types of Special Airlift Mission (SAM) aircraft available to DVs.

I used to fly some of them.

What Queen Nancy requested many times (and that was mentioned in the article) was the C-37, or Gulfstream V. This is a very nice jet. I can see why she wants it vis a vis flying commercial.

What she also wants is the C-32, which many in the press dubbed "Pelosi One." This aircraft is usually reserved for larger passenger official travel, especially overseas. There are only 2 of them (I believe).

This is the C-20, which is a Gulfstream 4. Several reports indicated her staff threw a fit if she was assigned this aircraft instead of the newer, larger G-5.

This aircraft is the C-21, or Learjet 35. It is quite fast and comfortable, but cannot accommodate more than 6 people and luggage.

This is the C-12. While not very fast, it is very roomy and convenient. How many of you would like this as your personal taxi for short airport hops?

Senators, Congressman, Admirals, Generals, etc fly on all of these aircraft, as well as lesser Government executives. Some of them also fly critical spare parts, and even wounded (or they have functioned as medical alert aircraft for emergencies).

You just don't "call" and get what you want unless you are the President of the United States. There are schedules. There are priorities. There are decisions to be made. There are legal issues (i.e. are you taking your family? Yeah, are you paying for that portion? This isn't your property - this is supposed to be Official Travel and there are LAWS at work here - laws Congress passed).

By all accounts, Pelosi and her staff are shrews. Terrible. Pushy. Rude. Demanding.

She deserves every ounce of bad publicity she gets on this issue.

This is the kind of story that has the potential to really resonate with the American people much like the House banking scandal helped throw the rascals out. This story crystallizes the arrogance and hypocrisy of the elitist left at a time when average Americans are canceling vacations because there have lost their jobs. But unfortunately it is a rare story that will have legs in the face of drive-by media apathy.

I see no disposition in the media to wax indignant about this story. I see no inclination in the Republicans to exploit the story and drive it. We won't hear much about it from Michael Steele, he is already demonstrated that he is over his head and out of his league. We will hear a little bit about it from our minority leader but that alone won't do it.

This is why we need a spokesman, preferably a charismatic chairman of the Republican National Committee, who can grab a microphone, eyeball a television camera, and utter a sound bite that even the drive-by media cannot resist because it sells commercials. We need a bomb thrower and we have a back stabber.

I think we ought to watch this story develop, or more likely die, and ask ourselves, do we have in place the political instruments necessary to wage this kind of war? Are we going to permit the White House to structure the debate around Rush Limbaugh or are we going to be proactive?

Elect me. I’ll be perfectly happy in the back of a C-130 with some cargo nets, a mummy bag and some foam earplugs. As long as it’s going there anyway, that is.

And some farking colonel doesn’t need to get there worse. :-)

Great post. And thanks for the pictures.

The only military transposrt I ever rode in was a Deuce and a half.

Not that the driver didn't try to make that fly ;^)

This is probably the tip of the iceberg. If we took an in-depth look at all the junket travel Congress does it’d probably be an eye-opener.

Hey, you know all those taxes you paid last year? The taxes that ate up close to 40% of your income and made it so that both you and your wife have to work to make ends meet?

You bought Nancy Pelosi a plane ride.
