I'll send it to him today if it would get him to shut up.

A WOLF in sheeps clothing.

Nope, this jackass is way beyond hiding his true intentions.

“self ex-communication”

yeah, that holds a lot of weight.

I am not a physician, and this is not medical advice.

I wonder if he has a brain tumour ... they can have this sort of effect.

More spin from "Devious" Doug.

It's Bernardin's "seamless garment" shtick. You know, the old blather about "yes, yes, we're very concerned about abortion but of course, we're concerned about all life issues, including health, war, poverty etc etc.". Essentially, it dilutes the importance of the unqualified right to life by equating it with other social issues. You don't deny the importance of abortion outright. You simply bury it amongst a host of other "important" issues. Devilishly cunning and extremely dangerous.

It's done incalculable damage to the Catholic Church in this country.

Dougie makes me sick. It is time to formally excommunicate him though he is already self-excommunicated. Maybe we should start a petition and present it to his bishop.

Proverbs 17:23-25 describes him perfectly:

23The wicked accept a concealed bribe
to pervert the ways of justice.
24The discerning person looks to wisdom,
but the eyes of a fool to the ends of the earth.
25Foolish children are a grief to their father
and bitterness to her who bore them.

Excommunicating Kmiec would be giving him just what he wants: attention. We should ignore him, as I suspect Barack Obama is doing, now that he no longer needs him. (I'll be Obama is chuckling about what a fool Kmiec is.)

In this case, silence gives assent. He needs to be formally, publicly repudiated.

I think Kmiec’s past association with Romney (or Reagan or anyone else) is irrelevant at this point. Kmiec has gone so far off the deep end that he speaks for no one but himself. Let’s keep our focus squarely on Kmiec and what a wackado he is. (I used to think Kmiec was a quisling, but now I think he’s just insane.)

It’s hard for a ‘scholar’ to admit he’s wrong, particularly when he’s being attacked. His position really makes no sense.

Sorry to be off topic, but you reminded me of a (4th year) philosophy class I took long ago. The professor, a Jesuit priest, stripped the veneer off the mystery of the subject of philosophy: "It's not what you say, it's how you say it, because philosophy is nothing but a bunch of BS."

Perhaps Mr. Kmiec would do himself, and his immortal soul, a favor by ceasing his tortured attempts to justify his position, i.e. admit that he's full of BS in his support of Obama.

BTW, I don't think I ever worked harder for a B in my life (3-4 hours of homework for every hour in class). Considering that 12 of the 14 students in the class were theology or philosophy majors, I think I did quite well.

Social justice CANNOT EXIST without life; therefore, life MUST come first.

I think Kmiec is crazy — I mean that: Kmiec is nuts — and that it would be counterproductive for a bishop to excommunicate him. It also wouldn't be defensible, given that “Catholic” politicians like Pelosi have not been excommunicated. Behind-the-scenes warnings to Kmiec would be the way to go at this point. (Although I'm sure Kmiec would make hay with even those types of warnings, given that he dined out for months on being refused Communion at one Mass.)

I hear you...it’s notoriously difficult, and I think you’re right on. Kmiec is just trying to find a rationale for a position that defies common sense. He’s not stupid, so only pride accounts for his continuing intransigence.

The bishop should excommunicate both of them. That would be consistant and a strong message that needs to be sent.

Maybe there was a problem with promoting someone who doesn't even have a degree from a Catholic college. The "pro-life Catholic leader" part sounds bogus now. No educated Catholic would make pro-abortion statements like these.

George Orwell lives. Up is down, black is white, etc. Mr. Kmiec is just so dishonest I can barely stand it. I would respect him so much better if he just admitted that Obama is pro-abortion and is rapidly enacting policies to promote them, but that he supports him for whatever other socio-political policies he may have. To pretend that Kmiec and Obama are pro-life is just to engage in Marxist manipulation of the English language.

There’s no real Christian way to say this, but Kmiec needs to STFU if he is claiming to speak for Catholics.

Romney has never supported Obama, so don’t blame him for Kmiec’s treachorous and Orwellian pro-Obama shenanigans.
