The Miami Herald plans to cut 19 percent of its workforce, reduce salaries of those who remain and require one week unpaid furloughs, publisher David Landsberg announced Wednesday morning.

''About 175 employees will lose their jobs as a result, and we will eliminate another 30 vacant positions, for a total reduction of 205. Reductions will occur in all areas of our operation and at every level in the organization,'' Landsberg said in an e-mail to employees.

It’s a shame Leonard Pitts wasn’t on the receiving end of a pink slip. The guy’s articles literally defy reality... It’s like he’s living in a da-da world of his own creation!

Maybe you oughta drop a note to LENNY....ask him how that Hussein regime is helpin’ his fellow workmates.

You know, normally I’d feel sorry for people losing jobs. And in fact I do feel sorry for the folks who supported the Constitution and liberty.

But the huge numbers of people losing their jobs now who were dancing in the streets on the night of November 4: YOU GOT WHAT YOU VOTED FOR.

I hate to see working class people suffer, but these liberal newspapers need to shut down completely. I won’t miss them. As for Mr. Pitts, he sneers at the very thought of even talking to working class people - the guy is a real hater.

How about we get someone in Congress to propose a TAX!

A TAX on NEWSPRINT!

Whereas the production of newspapers causes trees to be cut down, hauled by polluting trucks to polluting paper mills, and hauled from paper mills to publishers and

Whereas the production of newspapers requires toxic ink and solvents and energy wasting machinery and

Whereas the distribution of newspapers requires the use of dirty internal combustion engines and

Whereas a large portion of every landfill is used for discarded newspapers,

Therefore:
Be it resolved that a Newsprint tax, of $1,000.00 per pound, be charged to EVERY newspaper with a daily subscription, within the United States!
________________________________________
We should get some Republican to propose THIS as an amendment to any “cap and trade” or “carbon tax” proposal that comes up!
Maybe we can make it like “Cap and Trade” and use the revenue generated, from this tax on dirty dinosaur newspapers subsidize a tax credit for home computers and digital devices?

The papers will keep spewing lib crap content until the papers die. They alienated any non-libs who might read their paper.

Obama is killing the economy.

Would tax cuts have prevented these layoffs?

dunno. a healthier economy would’ve kept the ads coming in because there would be a market for the goods and services a strong economy demands.

as it is, the hussein regime is now responsible for these jobs being lost.

Now this is an idea that needs to be put forth and seriously debated. Of course the print media are totally against such a thing; they'd rather tax alcohol and tobacco. It's just like my idea to help ol' Rob Reiner pay for California's children's health: Alonf with a tobacco tax, tax movie tickets, see how ol' Rob likes being hit in the pocketbook himself!

This would probably be just as much a hit with the libs as my idea, but stuff 'em! They want to tax my stuff, I say tax their stuff! See how they like it.

Good idea there, Kansas58!
