I just spoke with Ken Blackwell, a senior fellow at the American Civil Rights Union and a former Ohio Secretary of State, about Michael Steele's comments to GQ.
According to Blackwell:
"Chairman Steele, as the leader of America's Pro-Life conservative party, needs to re-read the Bible, the U.S. Constitution, and the 2008 GOP Platform. He then needs to get to work -- or get out of the way."

The Constitution? Silly Conservative, to think that it matters...
Blackwell was the superior choice for GOP Chair.
OT, I received a fundraising email from mccain and replied he should retire or join the rat party.
Upon further review, I vote for "GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
and the 2008 GOP Platform.
Never mind 2008, how about 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 etc.
The RINO’s haven’t cared about the party platform for decades.
...and therein lies the problem.
Why isn’t Blackwell chairman? He is a sort of ‘Dick Cheney’ in black.
I love Dick Cheney! (In a manly manner, mind you.) Ken Blackwell would be a better leader than Steele.
(Yes, I supported Steele once he was chosen, but Blackwell was my first choice)

HA! Me too!
The Bible ? Far as I understood it, Steele is working for a political party. Not the Diocese of Boston.
It’s not his job to be a preacher or an evangelist.
I recall during his campaign when he was smeared as an OREO for the crime of being Republican While Black, this forum couldn’t say enough on his behalf. Now the yahoos call him RINO and want him purged.
He definitely stumbled with the Limbaugh remarks. but he’s not Public Enemy Number One. Not that that’s as much fun as a lynching of course. But its obscene that he gets this from both sides.
Steele will not be an effective leader of the Republican party, because he just doesn’t “have it”. There is no core belief system, which is needed to power, sustain, and guide the great amount of work needed to put RINOs off to the side and regenerate the party around it’s core values. I feel sorry for Steele, for he is another lost politician, trying to squeeze himself into the mold of something that can take best advantage of his blackness. Faking it, as a way of life, is a problem.
I don’t think he’s trying to take advantage of his color or that there is anything self-serving about his political career. But he’s just typical of GOP pols in that his first approach in discussing GOP values and principles is to apologize for them and then imply that they really aren’t that important after all, we just want to be liked.
It’s stupid on so many levels that one doesn’t know where to begin. The left is never going to like us anyway, but on top of that, they’re not going to respect us, either, if we go around apologizing for our princples or giving the impression that they are negotiable.
I think Steele’s biggest problem is that he’s another “nice guy” who just wants to get along.
If Steele read the constitution and the Bible, he wouldn’t comprehend what he read. He is an affirmative action dunce.

The RNC just needs find out where it’s misplaced its ‘nards!
It is part of the new Republican Party Platform, IMHO.
See PRESIDENT George W. Bush for evidence.
If he is to effectively represent the SoCons, the largest single faction of the Conservative wing, he had better have a good working knowledge of the Good Book.
bttt
Re: Michael Steele—I also think he is a very nice guy. But there seems to be no fire. I haven’t studied him at length, but did get close enough to get a feel for his make-up. I’m sorry, but to me he seems to be missing intelligent conservative passion. I hope that my assessment is wrong. Of course, I want it all in my pols. I want them to be born again Christians with a passion for revival, too. Maybe that is the missing link.
