Call to Action: St. Louis region FReeper Convention

So how do you guys want to do this? We can have a formal convention with speakers, dinner, and presentations but as you know this is going to cost money. I don't mind fronting some of the event myself but I don't want to do it alone. We could charge admission for the event but with the economy the way it is some people's finances might not be able to afford it.

We can do a small event with just FReepers and their guests and have food catered. Maybe look at some convention halls in or near downtown. We could try this to see the turnout we get and then plan for a bigger convention type setting.

If anyone wants to sit down and really start planning let me know. I am extremely busy, as most of us are, but I feel that it is my duty to fight the good fight. Basically, I think forming a planning committee so each person can be given a task would be the best way to approach this.

Here on The Hill there are a number of places for gatherings that might work and be cheaper than downtown. Depending on the numbers....

Good idea. I don’t do Facebook but we could probably set up a group site so folks can check in and say they would go.

I don’t post often but, yes, I would be keenly interested in any get together in Saint Louis.
Though you wouldn’t know it, there ARE conservatives in Illinois.

I’m from the Jeff City area. A one day event would be dooable for me. Prefer weekends.

A suggestion for potential meeting places. Elks Lodges and Eagles Clubs, VFW etc usually have a decent sized meeting room available for reasonable rent. They most likely would be able to cater food.
Just a thought if you are looking for potential places that could hold a couple hundred people.

There is an Eagles Club in Jefferson City that could easily accomodate an event, as a good example. Central location could make easier access for all Mo Freepers. Just a thought.

Sorry, I’ve been out for a while. I took a new job and have been sick due to the crazy midwest weather. I’m ready to get this going. Do you guys maybe have an interest in helping to plan an event?

I am working away from home for a couple months so I may not be of any help unless we have a late summer meeting.
