Agreed.

When I look at all the energy that grassroots conservatives have poured into this issue, it makes me cringe a little. Maybe he's a phony. Maybe (run for the hills!) he's legit. But the point is, it is only in fantasy that someone gets into power and then is kicked back out because of a paperwork issue, even if it's a huge constitutional nightmare. Doesn't matter. He has power, and power doesn't roll over for paperwork. Where are the precedents?

Think about this. The dems had a storyline, back in spring of '08, that McCain was ineligible because of some BS about being born in Panama. (On a military base, with US Citizens as parents, I know, but the point is, a bunch of them apparently believed that they had a case.) And yet we hardly heard a peep from them about it. Why? They realized that that was a tactical black hole. You don't pour your time and energy into the off chance that SCOTUS will reverse an election. You invest it where you have leverage.

Being right does not, ipso facto, mean you are being strategic.

Actually, McCain was not born on a military base in Panama as it had not been built yet. He was born in a local hospital to two American parents in Panama.
