KNOXVILLE - No charges are expected against a trucker who fatally shot a man entering the trucker's parked rig in West Knox County, an official said this morning.
"Our recommendation is not to charge that gentleman," said John Gill, special counsel to Knox County District Attorney General Randy Nichols.
The trucker, Richard Vance Allen, 68, of North Carolina shot James Edward Hodges Jr., 34, of Loudon about 2:30 a.m. March 11.

Wow...civil servants with common sense; very rare.
I don’t know if the article contained this information, but according to the radio reports when the event happened, the poor victim of this gun violence had a criminal record dating back to 1992, which by my math was about when he turned 18. He shan’t be missed.

Invading a truck drivers truck is tantamount to a home invasion. Indeed many of them spend more time in that truck than they do at home.
Exactly right and in the case of a truck, avenues of retreat are very limited if one chose that route. This guy was going to have to confront the intruder one way or the other.

LOL! That's my situation, and my plan.
Which means that his criminal record as a juvenile is sealed. In all likelihood, he didn't first become a criminal on his 18th birthday.

I have been told by a HP member that if you have a CCP, having a loaded handgun in a truck, car, or motorhome is the same as having a loaded gun in your home ... you have every right to protect yourself in your residence. The HP officer also extended that to motel rooms. The caveat is having the CCP ... that’s where the government has intruded too far, dictating that you have to have their permit to be safe in your person.
I believe the saying is more correctly:
