Obama’s Fearmongering Has Damaged The Economy (FoxNews.com)
FoxNews.com ^ | 3/16/2009 | John R. Lott, Jr.

Last Friday, Lawrence Summers, the White House Economics adviser, blamed a fearful public for dragging the economy down and said that there was an “excess of fear.” Summers is right that an “excess of fear” has really harmed the economy and that that the downturn has been much sharper than it had to be.

Fear has scared consumers into changing their spending decisions. Businesses that would have gotten money from those consumers have had to change their plans and cut back on employment. The increase in unemployment is temporary as the money hasn’t disappeared, but simply gone to other places and it takes time to move jobs around.

As this fear has spread, the economy has shrunk even faster.

But who has been responsible for instilling this fear?

– During Obama’s Feb. 18 address on the mortgage crisis, he said that we were in a crisis 24 times, Frequently describing in apocalyptic terms that the crisis would drag down the entire economy.

–During Obama’s first and only national press conference he talked about us being in a crisis 12 times and noted that it was an “unprecedented crisis” — something sure to instill confidence.

– In his first radio address to the nation on Jan. 24, Obama claimed, “We begin this year and this Administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action.”

– It is even harder to make sense of Lawrence Summers’ recent statement, because of these grossly exaggerated claims he made on stage with Obama in November — saying again “we’ve had an unprecedented crisis.”

– On Nov. 16, Obama said: “We’ve got an unprecedented crisis, or at least something that we have not seen since the Great Depression.”

Now that 0bama’s socialist power grabs have been enacted, it’s time for him to quit the fearmongering. He will turn positive and speak of the economy in glowing terms. I don’t think he’s stupid, he (and his handlers) know what they are doing. They have to prop up the economy to some extent to get the revenue for the socialist projects. That’s whole point of socialism; do away with the middle class by working them to death and confiscating their earnings.

Talking the economy down has become such a habit for Donks that I don’t know if they realize they do it. The quest for power & Bush Derangement Syndrome killed off the few remaining cells in their collective mind. Rather than being in power, they should be in therapy.

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

George Soros funds liberals and Obama's election => George Soros bets short on the market => Obama drives the market low with carfully scripted incompetence => George Soros collects astronomical profits => George Soros funds even more liberals with his windfall profits!

It is like the democrats stole a quarter of the nations wealth from the markets for their own future elections and exercise of power!

I think there may have been some collusion and the market fall was not an accident! So what if millions of Americans lost their retirement, they are now more dependent than ever on the government, distrust of capitalism has been carefully nurtured and many corporations and the financial system has been co-opted. In the fascist playbook this has been a win - win!

The government power grab is shameful.

I'd call it criminal, but without the population going all torches & pitchforks, I'm afraid they're gonna get away with it. Gaining power over media & education, turning a good share of the nation's population into unthinking drones was a masterful first stroke. But, there's actually a funny aspect to it, they've been affected to the point where most of them are too stupid to see how transparent they are to anyone paying attention.

Yeah, That One abandoned that Hopey thing as soon as he was sworn in. Even his Inauguration Speech, or the parts I read about, since I can’t stand to see or hear the man, was haranguing!
