Well, AIG got into the mess by p*ssing away their capital on dubious, risky instruments. They then took a handout from the government. Them what pays the piper calls the tune — it was ever thus.
I have exactly zero sympathy for these AIG losers. When I screw up in my job, you can bet that I won’t be getting any bonuses — at best I’ll be told to shape up or ship out, but more likely I’d be fired. You take public money, don’t act all shocked when there’s strings attached. You wanna keep independent and capitalist, like USB? Don’t screw up your capital and take government handouts.
