“a lawyer in CA (easier bar exam),”
absolute frog-feathers, like most of the statements
made by Obama, and his defenders, on FreeRepublic.

“Fact: The California bar exam is among the most difficult in the country with recent passage rates as low as 36%.”
California is the only state that allows graduates of non-accredited schools to take the bar exam, and that skews the figures. The first time pass rate for graduates of accredited law schools is 69%, which puts California around the national average. The first time pass rate for graduates of non-accredited schools is 25.9%, which is probably to be expected given the quality of their legal education. Add to that the fact that in California you can fail and retake the Bar exam as many times as you want. Statistics have shown that repeats have a much lower success rate as well.
