NAPLES, Fla. -- A Florida lawsuit against six oil companies that alleges negligence for failing to warn boat owners of potential harm from ethanol-blended gasoline, survived a motion to dismiss from the defendants, NaplesNews.com reported.
---snip---
The lawsuit claims the oil companies were negligent by not providing warnings to boat owners that ethanol additives can corrode fiberglass fuel tanks and require the tanks to be replaced, and secondly, that phased separation of ethanol from gasoline can cause engine damage. The goal with the class-action lawsuit is to reimburse the boat owners for repairs and to require a warning label on fuel pumps alerting boaters not to use ethanol-blended gasoline, or consult with a boat mechanic, according to Ostrow.

and they sue the companies who had no choice.
and it's then up to the companies to attack the entities and individuals who gave them no choice.
congress mandates ethanol and oil company refiners pay the price. This is what will happen in years to come with global warming. Congress mandates, corporations pay. Wonder why diesel was so high for awhile? EPA mandate for ultra low sulphur diesel. The retooling alone for refineries to add or take away gas additives is enormous.

Americans are unlikely to use enough gas next year to absorb the 13 billion gallons of ethanol that Congress mandated, because current regulations limit the ethanol content in each gallon of gas at 10%. The industry is asking that this cap be lifted to 15% or even 20%. That way, more ethanol can be mixed with less gas, and producers won’t end up with a glut that the government does not require anyone to buy.
The biggest losers in this scheme are U.S. oil refiners. Liability for any problems arising from ethanol blending rests with them, because Congress refused to grant legal immunity for selling a product that complies with the mandates that it ordered. The refiners are also set to pay stiff fines for not fulfilling Congress’s mandates for second-generation cellulosic ethanol. But the cellulosic ethanol makers themselves already concede that they won’t be able to churn out enough of the stuff — 100 million gallons next year, 250 million gallons in 2011 — to meet the targets that Congress wrote two years ago.
I’d rather sue to require a warning label be put on all environmentalist whackos . . . .
as if thats possible.
“I’d rather sue to require a warning label be put on all environmentalist whackos . . . .”
Or how about a cap and trade on liberals?? We cap their number and trade them away.
Like slaves, if the government orders you to do it, you must, at your own costs.
This is of course an uncompensated taking, the classic definition of slavery. So, it is slavery.
Government supporters argue that if government had to pay for all the stuff, it would never get the bills to raise taxes to pay for it.
In other words, legislatures know that the citizens will not when they balance everything out, support more taxes.
This is called a political clue.
Naturally, it is to be ignored. So, they just order it be done, like any king, pharaoh, Saddam.
And all this time you thought we had a constitution .
The ethanol plan was key to getting support for the Rats from the Midwest and farmers. Mandate use, subsidize production and ban imports...but it made sure they could win votes. We pay and they celebrate.
They are having a problem with water in gasoline in Western Washington state. Turns out, it’s the ethanol causing it.
All my equipment and vehicles have survived the switch to unleaded gas. Don't want to try alcohol. Have read bad things about it, don't want to push my luck.
How many lawn mowers have been sitting idle since last fall 99%?
Congress mandates ethanol and oil refiners pay the price, that is BS!
In boats, gasoline fuel tanks and motors, have indeed suffered. I know this first hand.
Even "low sulpher" diesel fuel has been hard on injector pumps. Still, for marine use, get a diesel engine.
Gasoline only belongs on the water in outboards.
For a time, I worked repairing gasoline marine engines. Though competent enough, and a fair diagnostician, it made me fairly pine for old, antiquated Detroits.
Cat, Cummins, John Deere, Wartsila, Mann, whatever... Hell, I'd more than gladly welcome a little 'ol Perkins over any GAS-O-line marine engine.
You’re probably thinking of E85, which is 85% ethanol. As I recall all gasoline in the country is required, by Federal Law, to contain an oxygenate, which due to the problems with MBTE effectively means 10% ethanol.
That’s what he means by “they have no choice.”

Doesn’t your pump have an ethanol sign like this one?
