She is NOT a first lady.

She is the thing that lives with that jerk that ACORN put in our White House.

She is NOT a first lady and never will be.

An excellent article! The education regarding the efforts and achievements of First Lady Laura Bush, should begin with Michelle Obama, who is stunningly oblivious and oafishly ignorant of them.

We are experiencing the two biggest phonies to EVER live in our beloved White House. May they rot in the lowest place when they are turfed out. Please let it be soon, too.

Mrs. "O"... the previous administration had... and still does have... the most respect for those in the military... Mr. & Mrs. Bush and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cheney took care of business and visited often soldiers/military behind the scenes without reporters and photogs in tow.

Tell me Mrs. "O" - when did your husband serve in the military?

It was a world class embarrassment and heartbreak to me.

Carter and his meddling really was responsible for that screw up and one of America's most humiliating experiences.

We're still paying the price for that. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, one of the Iranian thug leaders of the Embassy takeover is now the President of Iran

Shameful. Carter should have been impeached or worse for that. What a worthless, treasonous POS he is.

She can’t begin to even understand the willing sacrifices of our military members. She can’t relate to the needs of the military families or communities. She mustn’t now feign interest and concern.

The military takes care of its own (in most cases) and the families care for each other. They don’t need story book time from from someone who has pillow talk with the man who is anxious to dismantle the military, seeks to abandon Iraq, and wants to deny medical care to our warriors, among other things.

Her pandering and condescending attitude makes me want to puke! Liberals hate the military. But a lot of military wives I know drank the Obama Kool-Aide.

True and well said - thank you.

Oh how I despise these people! Sure "many" have not been invited to the White House, but MANY have!

"one idea Michelle had was to have an event for military families -- here they are sacrificing so much for the country and many of them probably have never been invited to the White House."

One of our wounded warriors, Luke and his lovely wife:
Luke and Bekka at WH 1.07

Daughters of our heroes meet First Dog Barney.
WW kids with Barney 1.07

PRESIDENT Bush walks across the White House lawn to greet Tony, commenting; "I see you got your new leg!"
Tony meets W at WH 1.07
President Bush had presented Tony his Purple Heart months before and remembered his name and the nature of his injuries. Tony was shocked and appreciative that his Commander-in-Chief would remember him in such a way.

Let me know if you want to see more pics and stories of President and First Lady Laura Bush with our glorious troops.

Laura knows her own self and won’t be disturbed by this. Laura was a great daughter, First Lady, loving wife, mother, sister in law, daughter in law. That’s all we need to know. The military KNOW Laura Bush.

Totally!!! I'm frothing, ready to throw something $%^@#@@!!!

How DARE she! She isn't fit to hold the discarded lipstick tube that Laura Bush threw away. Of all the low, disgusting, miserable impressions... there isn't a more compassionate and decent First Couple who so love, honor and support our brave military than President and Laura Bush.

And Laura didn't have a gaggle of reporters and cameras all the time to show how much she cares. In fact, many of her visits with the troops and military families were done privately.

Michelle Obama doesn't have a clue about true class and grace. She never will. She will never come close to being the refined and delightful lady that Laura Bush is. Laura Bush always made us proud. Michelle Obama never will.

Bush Hails Military Support Groups at White House Gathering

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2007 – President Bush praised contributions made by military support groups and veterans organizations at a morning gathering on the White House’s South Lawn today.

“I want to thank the service organizations and those who have come together to support our families and our troops,” said Bush, who was accompanied by first lady Laura Bush and a group of senior administration officials that included Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Veterans Affairs Secretary R. James Nicholson, Army Secretary Pete Geren, Navy Secretary Donald C. Winter, and Joint Chiefs Vice Chairman Marine Gen. James E. Cartwright.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Vets for Freedom, Blue Star Mothers, Gold Star Mothers and other groups are among organizations that “have come together to support our families and our troops,” Bush observed.

Some of the groups represented at the White House gathering are supporters of America Supports You, the nationwide, Defense Department-launched program that recognizes citizens’ support for military men and women and communicates that support to members of the armed forces at home and abroad.

“It’s important people hear from you,” Bush told the groups, noting that he appreciates their grassroots support for the military and its overseas mission to fight terrorism.

Bush said he’s committed to success in Iraq and supports recommendations made by Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander of Multinational Force Iraq. The president said continued success should enable future troop reductions.

“Inherent in (Petraeus’) recommendations is, one, his belief we’re succeeding, his belief we will succeed, and I ask the United States Congress to support the troop levels and the strategies I have embraced,” Bush said.

A precipitous withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq now would embolden America’s enemies, Bush said.

“If we were to retreat from the Middle East, the enemy would not be content to remain where they are, but they would follow us here,” Bush said.

The seeds of liberty planted in Iraq will grow, he predicted. Democracy, which provides people hope and illumination as opposed to the extremists’ dark, twisted vision, will spread across the Middle East.

“And we recognize that liberty is powerful, that liberty will yield the peace that we want for generations to come,” Bush explained. This generation of Americans “did the hard work now,” he said, “so that future generations could live in security and peace.”

The commander in chief saluted today’s military members serving worldwide “for wearing the uniform of the greatest country on the face of the earth.” He also praised military veterans of the past “for volunteering in the face of danger.”

The president also welcomed “the families who have got a loved one overseas, whether it is in Iraq or Afghanistan, fighting these extremists and terrorists.”

The administration supports the volunteer military in the fight against terrorism, Bush said, by supporting initiatives that provide better pay, housing and health care for America’s servicemembers and their families.

The president reached out to family members who’ve lost a loved one during the war against terrorism.

“Our hearts go out to you. We love you. The best way to honor the sacrifices that your loved one made, as well as the sacrifice you have made, is to accomplish the mission, is to achieve the peace.”

Me, the President and Darth Vader

I didn't think about what I would say when I met them, so I spoke off the cuff.

Mr. President, I am Catherine Moy from Fairfield, Calif., home of Travis AFB. I am Communications Director for Move America Forward, the largest . . ..

He smiled and put his arm around me. He thanked MAF and all of the nation's patriots for supporting our troops.

Mr. President. I want to thank you for your patience in this war against radical Muslim Jihadists. As you said from the beginning, this will be a long war. I also want to thank you for your patience in waiting to take a picture with me.

Bush laughed, a Texas laugh, and squeezed my shoulder. He felt like an old friend. And why not? He has protected my skin for seven years. Another friend tried taking a picture, but my camera's battery went dead. Classic. I was satisfied standing close to the most powerful person in the world, his arm tight on my shoulder. We chatted. Then the White House's official photographer came around.

OK California. Here we go, President Bush said to me. We turned toward the photographer, who snapped away.

I had watched all morning as President Bush spoke to us, then shared time with individuals. Many had lost a son or daughter in Iraq or Afghanistan. After meeting with the president, who hugged and kissed them, many walked away with tears streaking their faces, their souls touched by the man who so loves our country, he sent their children to fight for it. .

Some looked as if a weight were lifted from their tired, broken hearts. Their legs moved slowly, as through setting concrete, their arms close to the chest that President Bush had held close.

The sight moved me. I remember the pictures that ran in the Vacaville Reporter, for which I write a regular column, of Cindy Sheehan hugging and snuggling with President Bush. That was before she was poisoned by politics and a need to run from the grief that still grips her.

It’s important people hear from you. It’s important people hear your voice. And I want to thank you for organizing, Bush said in his speech on the White House South Lawn. I want to thank you not only for the grassroots support of our families; I want to thank you for going up to Capitol Hill. And here’s a message I hope you deliver: The commander-in-chief wants to succeed, and the commander-in-chief takes seriously the recommendations of our military commanders.

The crowd loved Bush because they love America. We cheered and spontaneously broke out in chants of, USA.USA. Men who lost their legs in the war against America's Muslim enemies offered a standing ovation. Mothers and fathers whose sons gave their lives rose to their feet and shouted. World War II vets, civilians fighting the enemy within the Cindy Sheehan's of the world pumped fists.

After breakfast, I met with Mrs. Bush, who exudes class. She wore a pantsuit, but might as well have been sporting a Versace gown. She was gracious, soft, but strong.

Me, Laura Bush and Deborah Johns, Director of Military Relations, Move America Forward

I noted a long, fresh surgical wound on her neck, stretching from her hairline down her back. Secret Service grabbed the arms of admirers who hugged Mrs. Bush and gently glided them down her back to avoid causing her pain. She hurt, but invited us into what she called the People's House.

A First Lady gives so much to the country.

No visit to the White House would be complete with out rubbing elbows with Cheney. I introduced myself.

Mr. Vice President, you and I almost danced once. During your first inauguration. You know, when you and Dubya stole the election, I said, winking.

Everybody laughed. Even the Secret Service. Cheney gave that cock-eyed smile. The official photographer yelled out, what's your name?

Catherine Moy rhymes with Joy!!!

Cheney and I chatted. He had a comfortable manner, like my Texas relatives. Sweet, loving. Hillary Clinton called him Darth Vader this week. Haha. Michael Moore must stop writing her comedic lines. Seems she hasn't taken the time to speak with the Vice President. Or she's a liar. Or both.

I left the White House Tuesday knowing we are in good hands. The best. Thank God.

Michelle, ever heard of the USO, America Supports You, Patriot Guard, and the dozens and dozens of volunteer organizations and thousands of proud Americans who devote endless hours and bushels of love to support and give aid and tangible resources to our awesome military, veterans and their families??

How DARE she!

Thank you for this post.

Michelle O’Bambi shouldn’t even be walking the same hallowed
halls that Laura trod!

What misplaced arrogance and ignorance! I know a LOT of
military families who have nothing but contempt for this
first blunderering family who disrespect our country so much!

Michelle Obama is an ass and a liar and her husband wants to strip veterans of health care benefits or make them pay out of pocket I should say what does she have to say about that. She can stick it and so can her jerk of a fake president husband. I have had with this ilk
