A related story about a similar measure in Georgia was posted a week or so ago. See "Georgians could pay future state taxes in gold." Although the headline focused on this as being a requirement to pay taxes in gold (an attempt by the Party Propaganda Ministry to marginalize the Republicans that proposed it), the measure in Georgia is actually a "constitutional money" initiative. It covers payments from the states to individuals, companies or other government entities, and mandates that banks set up several classes of gold and silver backed accounts, in addition to FRAUD accounts (Federal Reserve Accounting Unit Dollars).

I posted the full text of the Georgia bill at Post 17 on the Georgia thread.

I'll see if I can get the text of the Montana proposal and post it here.

These measures will go nowhere now. They will be looked at as fringe issues for kooks and gold bugs. However, if (or should I say when) the dollar (the FRAUD dollar) crashes, I would expect states to pass these measures to get some kind of value based money back in the system. Until then, I expect that these bills won't even get committee hearings.

Is Montana “Galt’s Gulch”?

Again, I think this is more a hedge in case the Fed screws up the dollar and crashes it.

As for "Galt's Gulch," today, I think it's in Alaska. That's really the only state that I see as having even a slight chance of splitting off and becoming free and independent.

There is also a bill in Indiana. I’ll see if I can get a link for it.
I have no idea if it has a chance at passage however, there is the author and one co sponsor. IN has 33 R and 17 D in the Senate but the Ds have an advantage of 4 in the House.
I’m glad to see this is happening in other states.
