After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. No longer would unarmed pilots be defenseless as remorseless hijackers seized control of aircraft and rammed them into buildings.
Now President Obama is quietly ending the federal firearms program, risking public safety on airlines in the name of an anti-gun ideology.
The Obama administration this past week diverted some $2 million from the pilot training program to hire more supervisory staff, who will engage in field inspections of pilots.
This looks like completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots. The 12,000 Federal Flight Deck Officers, the pilots who have been approved to carry guns, are reported to have the best behavior of any federal law enforcement agency. There are no cases where any of them has improperly brandished or used a gun. There are just a few cases where officers have improperly used their IDs.
Fewer than one percent of the officers have any administrative actions brought against them and, we are told, virtually all of those cases “are trumped up.”

What’s wrong with it is that many “good ol’ boys and girls” fall for a Democrat because he gives them his/her word that he “jes’ loves” the NRA, talks “country” by dropping his “g’s” from words and then gets in Congress and then is what he is and they don’t notice unless something really big slaps them in the face (which only happens when an election is far off and the Democrat knows they’re gonna forget it by the time he pops up at rallies slapping backs and shaking hands).
What a BOLD, courageous move... toward insuring that no Muslims will ever get mad at us.

I think it’s prudent to take precautions such as allowing pilots to be armed as a last resort to protect the public safety. However I wonder if we arent falling into that classic military blunder of preparing to fight the last war. Will they really just try to do the same thing again, hijack an aircraft and ram it into something? My guess is that they will not, the security measures in place now, especially with regards to cockpit access restrictions make it a lot tougher now. Instead, I think they’ll look for another hole in our defenses and use it. We’d better be ready. And I do mean “WE” as in you and me because Obama is doing his damnedest to make sure the authorities are not ready.
