After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. No longer would unarmed pilots be defenseless as remorseless hijackers seized control of aircraft and rammed them into buildings.
Now President Obama is quietly ending the federal firearms program, risking public safety on airlines in the name of an anti-gun ideology.
The Obama administration this past week diverted some $2 million from the pilot training program to hire more supervisory staff, who will engage in field inspections of pilots.
This looks like completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots. The 12,000 Federal Flight Deck Officers, the pilots who have been approved to carry guns, are reported to have the best behavior of any federal law enforcement agency. There are no cases where any of them has improperly brandished or used a gun. There are just a few cases where officers have improperly used their IDs.
Fewer than one percent of the officers have any administrative actions brought against them and, we are told, virtually all of those cases “are trumped up.”

I don’t know what to say. This is a great program. Things are seriously messed up. It is going from bad to worse daily and very obviously so. If the average individual would read your list, I would have to believe the lightbulb would go on. Unfortunately, the average voter only listens to clips of the MSM with their twist on it. It’s a very sad time for our nation.
EVERY DAY it’s something new with Obama, and it’s ALWAYS something that will HURT our country!
If ANYONE still thinks that Obama is doing ANY of these things to “strengthen” our country they need their heads examined!

Chump. Bush was no conservative, which is why he maintained the assault weapons ban and appointed Mineta (a DEMOCRAT) in the first place.

Sure there are quibbles, but airline passengers can bask in their good feelings in those last few minutes of our lives, knowing that they weren’t judgmental.
We should also completely disarm Air Force One.

What are you talking about? The FFDO program was in place. The current administration is implementing a policy to slow down the program and investigate current officers over petty offenses. This may lead to a suspension in the program and hopefully not ridding of it.

It took forever to get going and was operated with a LONG waiting list. My point is that the entire fleet would be armed by now if the President hadn't let Mineta drag his feet. It would be a fait accomplis.
