The NRA went straight after the DOD on this one. They reversed the decision quickly.
Good news for all reloaders, shooters and enthusiasts!

Good news and it clears up the question of whether the story was true or not.

this is interesting on several fronts......IMO the response from civilians was swift and resounding (thanks to the genie that is the internet) paints them politically into a smaller box as to what they will attempt in the future

I saw an exposition of spent casing art that was remarkable. apparently soldiers would collect the spent artilliary casings and rework them and make amazing artifacts. I wonder if they still do this, and if so, whether this rule will lead to the destruction of this unique art form.

PRAISE GOD... my .308 ammo on order with them may actually arrive someday. It has been 2.5 months tomorrow that I ordered it! I just bought another 1k of .308 yesterday... oh well... in these times one cannot have “too much” ammo!

Nice job everyone!!! BTW if it is true that the whole reason they did it was to stop exportation then just stop exportation. There are plenty of means to do that. When I worked in Silicon Valley we had lists of things classified by DARPA and the Dept of State that could not be exported. That story stinks to high heaven.
Now what idiocy do they have planned next?

the person who ordered this needs to lose their job.
The destruction of brass order was not an oversight it is from someone who is too far to the left to be in the pentagon.

I believe that you will find that it was the tremendous citizen response to this news after it was posted on this site on Saturday that turned the tide. There was never any alert posted either by the NRA or GOA nor were any emails sent to members to alert them to what was going on.
This short email that I received this AM was in response to three days of pounding on the NRA-ILA for answers while we were busy encouraging others to keep writing their representatives:
Dear Mr. Dallas,
Please read the following releases:
http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/DLA.MilitaryBrass.pdf
http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/DLA_mcunningham.pdf
Sincerely, Susan Christman NRA-ILA Grassroots Division
A letter from Lindsay Graham (R, SC)to one of the members of the Reloaders Nest, was the first positive response that I saw, go figure!

This short email that I received this AM was in response to three days of pounding on the NRA-ILA for answers while we were busy encouraging others to keep writing their representatives:Well, according to Cam & Company on Sirius, the NRA went straight to the DOD to in order to clarify the story and get more details. The DOD said they were studying it and reversed the decision.
I have no doubt it was the tremendous grassroots attention this story received that helped change the decision, but the NRA was right there...on the day the mutilation order was revealed....asking the officials responsible for the basis of such a decision.
CCRKBA put out a press release and nothing more (as far as I have found).
Just wanted to give the NRA the credit it deserves as many around here do not.

Good news. We’ll just have to stay vigilant because we know this administration will try something else to limit our second amendment freedoms. This is only the first salvo.
