Bush's Mouth: "Obama is doing just fine"

Yeah, his support for Specter, our new “leader,” was real classy, too. Our party is in shambles.

Bush is just a little more competent than Obama.

Shut up George.

Bush: Obama Is Doing Just Fine

Just when it was becoming obvious that every mistake they made since TARP 1 is their own....They will use this statement against him again and again for the next year now.

Seems more like Bush is putting the good of the nation above his own partisan feelings.

If Obama goes down big time, the country may very well go with him.

Besides, this sets a very good example for getting back to not bitching about what your replacement is doing, as X42 seemed to enjoy doing so much.

I don't know...If I were a die-hard Leftist Obama supporter, the last thing I would want to hear is that Bush thought Obama was doing a fine job. ;)

Bush is trying to save his behind by NOT saying anything derrogatory or inflaming. He knows Obama and Congress has threatened to go after him on war crimes and could do it...and they have gotten to him. That’s my take on this crap. One day he will write a book about it but maybe by having Cheney do the talking at LEAST he’s trying to get the message out on Obama!

Look, I hated it every time a former president ... i.e. that jerk Carter and sometimes Clinton....criticized the current one....so....I think this is ok - besides Bush knows we all know the truth.

You probably wouldn’t expect former President George W. Bush, in his first speech since leaving office, to praise his successor.

Bush is a gentleman, which is usually the correct answer, but this is a special case. This is not a case of Jimmy Carter, who meant well. It's not Ike, who did a pretty good job. It's not even FDR, who did a lot of harm to the free market but believed in America more or less. We are dealing with a socialist who hates freedom and everything America stands for, and it's not the time to be a gentleman about Obama's disgust for those of us he describes as "behind enemy lines", meaning those who work for a living and produce value.

The socialist is not doing "fine"; Obama is intentionally doing evil and doing it surprisingly effectively.

Enns said Bush told the audience that he expects Obama will do a “fantastic job”

I'll buy that one. I found "fantastic" defined as:
fan·tas·tic (fn-tstk) also fan·tas·ti·cal (-t-kl) adj.
1. Quaint or strange in form, conception, or appearance.
2. a. Unrestrainedly fanciful; extravagant: fantastic hopes.
b. Bizarre, as in form or appearance; strange: fantastic attire; fantastic behavior.
c. Based on or existing only in fantasy; unreal

In a folksy address to 1,400 people in Canada

Funny how quickly people forget the protests of "When people talk down our president, it gives encouragment to the America-haters and terrorists" and "politics stops at the border" and all those phrases.

I'm thinking of all those who bitched about Americans who put down our country overseas or expressed disagreement with Bush in foreign countries, and said it was one thing to do it here, but near-treason to do it outside the country.

I'm also recalling those who reminded Clinton and Carter about the unwritten rule about criticizing the serving president.

Remembering the standards most people either just talk about or think only apply to others, not themselves: Indeed, he is a class act. /No sarc

P.S. Anyone who thinks ANY ex-president reveals his true feelings about a serving president is incredibly naive.

Is it still a no-no to bash Bush on this forum? I mean even when he did stupid things? Just wondering?

GWB’s handling of all this brings to mind the faithful wife watching her philandering husband move on down the road with another floozie. “I hope he makes you just as happy as he’s made me..and more to ya!”
Perfect? Far from it.
Weary of endless attacks? You betcha!
I thank him for working to rebuild respect and dignity of the presidency, and keeping us safe.
A lot of the good he did swept away in days by an ungrateful electorate.
