I've been cogitating about your contribution for the past hour, and it has crystallized my thought about the coming crisis.

There is an old saying in the military. "Amateurs think tactics; professionals think logistics." Without actually quoting that statement, you have proved it admirably. In a conflict with the US Armed Forces loyal to the government, American citizens won't stand a chance. They will be mowed down with enthusiasm. The inability to handle the logistics of standardized weaponry will spell the end of any resistance, no matter how well organized.

As an ex-Army officer (Vietnam era), I know that American troops will follow the orders of their commander in chief to the letter. They will do their duty. Whether those orders are illegal or inhumane will mean nothing. They will be followed, or else.

The only way to sap the will of the Armed Forces would be to "go Iraq", ie. an insurgency. This would involve things such as the assassination of elected officials and roadside IED's. Insurgents would have to blend in with their surrounding communities and count on the loyalty -- or the fear -- of their neighbors to protect them.

While some of our armchair Rambos here find this idea exciting, I view it as a vision of hell. I have no desire to kill my neighbors because their politics differ from mine.

And, Grassley is one of the best of our Senators. Review his long record and his many stands for the right. He is a very good guy relative to the rest of the folks in the House and Senate. He also does a lot of good for Iowans, too. Contrast that with his counterpart, T. Harkin, who has sought the limelight beyond Iowa by being far too left for Iowans or good Americans in general.

You have spoken what I did not. I thought it was rather obvious, so I didn't mention it. Apparently it IS obvious...at least to you. If you've realized it, then others have as well, whether they admit it or not. I certainly don't make this junk up. Nor do I get any satisfaction from writing about it. To be honest, it rather depresses me every time I put these thoughts on this forum.

What you've mentioned is the main reason I've been telling people that a civil conflict on our soil is to be avoided at almost all cost. Once committed people are involved, there will be assassinations, murder, kidnappings, torture, bombings, essential service disruptions, and other extreme unpleasantries which can be proven as FACT in similar circumstances elsewhere in this world, but seem to be overlooked and ignored by a certain number of enthusiastic Patriots here. Iraq is a good example, as is Northern Ireland. Everybody thinks that an all out civil conflict will be instant death or victory. Nobody thinks of the midnight kidnappings, the torture, or the psychological operations aspect of it. Our nation would turn into a living hell within a month, and those who really believe they want civil war here are simply insane. It would be a constant and REAL environment of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. If people think dealing with financial collapse is stressful, just wait until we're embroiled in civil war!

However, having said that.... should a certain number of truly "committed" people catalyze into an organized force, and not some disillusioned bunch of idiots with no experience, then this nation will have a SEVERE problem on its hands in very short order.

But IF that doesn't happen...and we all hope and pray that it does NOT, then logistics is certainly the area to focus on.

As I tried to explain; I'm not advocating anything, but simply trying to be a realist. I once was, and continue to be an analyst....no more, and no less.

If the South were to be invade today and the US Army to occupy the entire Southland, I estimate the size of the Army needed to do that to be about 12 Million. Currently the entire US Army is about 1/12 of that needed number. LOL. COme on.

During the Civil War the south had 10 Million people, total. Just Virgina and Tennessee together have that now. You need to start thinking about the scale of something like this. Start thinking huge.

I would say in this scenario, the mobilization to take at least a year, with not much happening tactically at first.

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Conundrum... what if the domestic enemy is the POTUS? Then what????

One gets the sense that the world is governed by a hand full of very powerful people and the rest of us are just bacteria that serve their needs and desires...

Don't assume that the next Southern secession needs to be violent. It worked for Czechoslovakia and Slovenia and the old Soviet Union. Nary a shot fired.

If the South secedes will the World allow Obama to invade and start shooting? No more than if the USA invaded Mexico.

What would Tutu do? The Euroweenies? I think passive resistance to any attempt by the rump in Washington to retain power in the New South would be met by huge world outcry. The world would Love to see the USA disintegrate anyway.

Washington doesn't fear a violent revolution because they can crush it. They are terrified that productive individuals and conservative states will just decide to take their ball and go home.

I don't think they'll come down here and shoot us this time if we break away peacefully. But... if they do... we'll be ready... "better dead than red..."

It is quite preposterous to harbor for more than a moment that the current generation of citizen sheep would organize and mount a revolt of any mention against the clearly tyrannical, thieving, out of control federal government. Too bad, but that’s what it is. Perhaps generations hence, after years of grinding poverty and oppression, death and endless rounds of flatulent “elected leaders” living as royalty. Maybe a Spartacus. Likely not even then, as the science of sheep control is well advanced.

>>I must admit I often wonder if our illegal
>>invasion is a means of building an army with
>>no qualms about killing Americans.

If folks had stayed south of the border in poverty, they would presumably have been more amenable to being recruited by our communist enemies.

The alternative is to allow them to come north and become dependent upon the system the communists want to destroy.

Problem is telling the “true believer” communist wolves from the north migrating sheep; and this is further compounded when we have communist wolves indoctrinating the sheep from within our own educational systems.

In the end, we must return to the American ideal that government exists to preserve the inalienable rights of the governed - and to return to it, we must live and teach it.
