They've been going back and forth on the V-monologues for years now. The tug-a-war over the dialogues is almost as much a part of event as the play itself. Oh well, at least they aren't staging it on Ash Wednesday, as they did a few years back...

I was encouraged this year by the more concerted pro-life stand taken by the bishops. They spoke with one voice this past campaign more than I have ever seen. The proposed speech at N.D. should be a real showdown, if there are those with the will to fight. It really needs to be, because the issues here are hardly ambiguous. The other bishops are probably waiting for Bsp D'Arcy to decide what he's going to do.

BTW, Bsp D'Arcy was one of the ones in Boston who tried to blow the whistle on the goings on there. He was exiled to Indiana for his trouble. I'm sure he's well aware of the consequences of not acting in time. One hopes they are burning the midnight oil in Fort Wayne these days trying to figure out a strategy. One hopes .... A visit by the Aborter-in-Chief would be a scandal for the ages at N.D., expecially after the bishops started to speak out about abortion last year. The provocation can't go unanswered.
