Dispelling the Global Warming Myth

Earlier this month, the Heartland Institute sponsored the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change in New York. The Conference differed from most such events in that it was devoted to science, not politics or propaganda. Heartland has now made the materials presented at the conference available online, here. You can review the agenda, watch videos of the keynote presentations, read transcripts of some of the speeches, and see the Power Points that were presented by the speakers. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

These are a few of the many slides that I found interesting. This one, by Dennis Avery, puts the climate swings of the last 12,000 years (i.e., since the last Ice Age) in perspective; click to enlarge:

his one, by Syun Akasofu, also takes a long-term view, and compares the politically-driven prediction by the UN's IPCC with the historical trend as the earth has recovered from the Little Ice Age:

Don Easterbrook makes the basic point that, contrary to the hysterical predictions of the alarmists, the earth is cooling, not warming:

In may our congress will be voting on a “CO2 tax/cap and trade program”
Politicians (both parties) only understand one thing, money.

The only legal way for me to avoid paying taxes is to stop any unnecessary spending.
Send a message to Washington.

President Obama

Let me get this straight

You want congress to implement a new tax revenue system based on CO2 called a CO2 Cap and trade program.

As a consumer, which pays for all taxes and fees for the exchange of goods and services, I will not support a new tax system, tax, hidden tax or fees based on CO2 regulations.

Starting today I am going to cut my spending by 15 percent.

I will never purchase a new automobile.
Lost of revenue to the Auto, Finance and Insurance industries.

I will not travel outside my city on vacation for next several years.
Lost of revenue to the Travel Agents, Airlines, Hotels and Vacation Destinations industries.

I will reduce my utility consumption.
Lost of revenue to the Electric, Natural Gas and City Water, Sewer industries.

I will reduce my entertainment
Lost of revenue to the Hollywood, Restaurant, Concert and Sports industries.

I’m going to ask 10 of my friends to reduce their spending by 15 percent and encourage them to ask 10 of their friends to do the same.

I’m neither a register Republic, Democrat or Independent.
I am a register VOTER and a member of the Tea Party
I will work toward unseating any politicians regardless of party affiliation who votes for any type of CO2 regulation.

You might want to escrow those savings, Steve, in case you’re obligated to pay new taxes foisted upon you by the socialists currently in charge. Then again, if there’s a change in both houses of Congress come 2010, you’ll have the dough for a new car.
