Econ board has yet to meet publicly (remember Cheney's meetings?)

Six weeks after President Barack Obama appointed a blue-ribbon panel to help him dig America out of its economic crisis, the board has yet to hold an official public meeting.

The White House initially said that the 16-member Presidential Economic Recovery Advisory Board, headed by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, would meet “every few weeks.” Last month, a spokesperson told POLITICO the group would meet monthly. And more recently, the White House said the high-powered board, set up to address what Obama has called the worst economic emergency since the Great Depression, would gather only about four times a year, with the next session due in “late spring.”

Remember how the left freaked out and sued to try to have Cheney's meetings to get advice on energy policy from people in the energy sector - including Oil Execs?

Where are those same freaks now?

Political outrage is never outrage. It's always a tool of manipulation. If Cheney did something, there was outrage. If Obama does something, there is silence.

The thing is, if a Republican says "macaca" their career can be ended by the outrage. If Obama makes a joke about the special olympics, sensible Republicans shrug and say "it's just a joke". Fact is, the two sides are playing by two sets of rules. As a simple fact of political survival, the Republican Party should have gone apoplectic over Obama's appearance on Leno and his hateful, hateful, destructive joke. It's not real outrage. It's manipulation.

Yep, I’m not hearing any complaints from the left-wing freaks about the lack of public meetings for Obama’s economic recovery panel. But you have to understand that there’s a big difference between Cheney’s secret meetings and Obama’s secret meetings. The difference?...they didn’t like Cheney but they like Obama.

Actually, Obama apparently made a second crip joke (as Steyn called it) during that interview, when he said that his new pet dog would probably be a water head (i.e., hydrocephalic).

That one has hardly even made the conservative blogs. Maybe there’s just too much of this scandalous behavior for even conservatives to pick up everything and run with it.

Blue-Ribbon panels are generally worthless political ploys, and this one appears to be genuinely worthless.

Alternately, if the panel has real macroeconomic experience they would report that everything Hussein has done so far hurts prosects for economic recovery.

I disagree with that. Have we gotten so PC that people go into fainting spells over every faux pas?

I refuse to live that way. 'Pod.

To say nothing of the secret meetings on health care that have been taking place in the swimmer’s offices in D.C.

“...with the next session due in “late spring.””

if the next session is next Spring, when was the first meeting??

I really think this just a show case. Obama doesn’t need or want their advise. He is do darn smart he can handle everything himself - I'll betcha!!!
