I held the Constituion in front of him and said "THIS is why you are a United States Marine. THIS is what you have sworn to defend".
That was an inspired act. If someone were to tell me that, in that way, I know I would never forget it. Not only that, I believe I would share it with my trusted friends--as I believe he will.

Ill bust him at 600 yards...
And I'd love to be there with high-powered optics to watch it happen (and the effect it would have on his/her "comrades").

Not only that, I believe I would share it with my trusted friends--as I believe he will. Thank you and I hope he does. It was heartfelt and it was important that he hear it. I think he understood I was trying to tell him WHAT his allegiance is to and not WHO it is to.
All those years of public school, seems like the Constitution takes a back seat.

I held the Constituion in front of him and said "THIS is why you are a United States Marine. THIS is what you have sworn to defend". I just heard a spokesman for a group tonight on the radio who are ex-military. They are going around and speaking to groups of military and reminding them of their oaths and what that oath means. They have a 10 point "we won't do" that are all based on the Constitution. He said many of the young soldiers, when asked who/what they swear the oath to, say "the president". So they are then educated otherwise.
It was very interesting and good to know these patriots are being active.

This is why Obama wants his own "brownshirts". He has a little problem, though. He'll be recruiting them from the subpopulation that thinks guns are bad.
Hitler's brownshirts relied on the fact that the populace had been disarmed, prior to their activities. Had they not been, there would have been a liklihood of one or two getting killed for each house they attacked. It wouldn't have taken long for them to get tired of that.
There's also the possibility of armed neighbors supporting each other, when one is attacked.

I was working for a phone flower company at home taking orders for Valentine’s day and a soldier called from Iraq. I think he was a little shocked when I thanked him for what he and his friends were doing in Iraq and not for his order.
Bless them all!

That's a mighty fine spinny Semper Fidelis there.
I will pass on all FReepers' good wishes in my first letter to him at S.O.I.

I took this oath in 1970:
I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
We all do. There's nothing in it about personal loyalty to a fuhrer, nothing about obeying unconstitutional orders, and there's no expiration date. I speak for myself and, frankly, everyone I served with - we take it very, very seriously.

A friend was serving in Iraq with II MEF so I sent St. Valentine’s and Thanksgiving arrangements to his wife while he was gone. She got a big kick out of them.
In November, I was the guest of the 1st Radio Battalion at their Birthday Ball at Disneyland and on our way to another venue for more drinks and merriment, quite a few folks stopped the Marines to say ‘thanks’ and have their picture taken with folks in mess dress. It was beautiful.

Actually, no. I would then ask my friend if I could take the next shot (with his gun, since my 30-06 would not be very effective at that range).

2.5 years ago I proudly raised my right arm and solemnly swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and the state of Nevada, so help me God. No man will ever compel me to turn my back on an oath that I swore before God.

Words well-spoken by both of you, and I can feel the passion behind them. I take courage from you both, just as I did from the soldier earlier today. Thanks.
