President Obama to give (yet another) prime time press conference Tuesday
Examiner ^ | 3/23/2009 | Examiner

Fans of American Idol might be disappointed that the show is being pre-empted for the prime time press conference President Barack Obama will be holding on Tuesday night, but most of us would probably rather hear more about the federal budget. That is, of course, what Obama will be speaking about before reporters start asking questions. The deficit, buying bad bank assets, and energy policies will likely be high on the list of issues he addresses.

The press conference will be held Tuesday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. PST / 8:00 p.m. EST in the East Room of the White House. All of the major networks and cable news channels will carry it, and online coverage on CNN Live will begin at 4:45 p.m. PST / 7:45 p.m. EST.

It will be interesting to see if Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner's name comes up, as well as Energy Secretary Steven Chu. And with the Dow rising with the news of the bank assets plan it will also be interesting to see if an optimistic mood can be sustained. Finally, because some reporters can usually be counted on to ask a frivolous question, one wonders if Obama will be asked about his NCAA basketball picks.

49.5 million people watched Obama's first prime time press conference on February 9. Nearly 52.4 million people tuned in to Obama addressing a joint session of Congress on February 24. Stay tuned for tomorrow night's numbers. They may be a sign of how worried we are.

It is the same as Mugabe’s tribal people supporting him no matter what and partly because they get a piece of the ($$$$$$) action.

Scripted questions, teleprompter answers ... a rerun from the West Wing would be more informative.

Dopey O couldn’t pick a worse hour to preempt for his blather. Idol and NCIS fans are legion and won’t be happy. (I am in the NCIS category.)

Heard same but apparently Gorby was there to see Roots.
Don’t think much can be done about a goose and a gaggle.
No mistake though...
We’ve been sold out.
But BO probably needs a new ACORN lead - hence Gorby.
Our problem is internal.

He’ll probably call out Tammy Bruce and demand an apology.

This is the second time American Idol has been preempted on a Tuesday night. Ryan did have a snide tone. I enjoyed that someone else is sick of the poster child.

I wonder which lucky reporters are going get to ask David Axelrod’s questions??? I hope they are asked in the right order. It could throw Obama’s answers off.

You know, I think I might actually watch if they let Cowell do commentary on one of these things.

The last time I heard him speak or watched him on t.v. was in the last debate with John McCain. I prefer a recap from FR, I cannot stand his voice and his cold dead eyes and mannerisms give the creeps.

First question:

We whose newspapers are about to die salute you. Can Michelle beat you in arm wrestling?

Oh no, not another teleprompter reading session. Why not just put up a photo of his dog and turn the teleprompter around so the audience can read along.

The ACTING president is shrinking daily, frequent teleprompter readings aren’t going to fix that.

Have we ever had a President who spent so much time needing the adulation that comes with being on TV constantly? He gives one of these, "STOP THE PRESSES!" conferences just about every other week!

Is he just more comfortable endlessly campaigning?

Diagnostic Features:

Narcissistic personality disorder is a condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, need for admiration, extreme self-involvement, and lack of empathy for others. Individuals with this disorder are usually arrogantly self-assured and confident. They expect to be noticed as superior. Many highly successful individuals might be considered narcissistic. However, this disorder is only diagnosed when these behaviors become persistent and very disabling or distressing.

Complications:

Vulnerability in self-esteem makes individuals with this disorder very sensitive to criticism or defeat. Although they may not show it outwardly, criticism may haunt these individuals these individuals and may leave them feeling humiliated, degraded, hollow, and empty. They may react with disdain, rage, or defiant counterattack. Their social life is often impaired due to problems derived from entitlement, the need for admiration, and the relative disregard for the sensitivities of others. Though their excessive ambition and confidence may lead to high achievement; performance may be disrupted due to intolerance of criticism or defeat. Sometimes vocational functioning can be very low, reflecting an unwillingness to take a risk in competitive or other situations in which defeat is possible. Individuals with this disorder have special difficulties adjusting to growing old and losing their former ?superiority?.

The complications part caught my attention. Made me think about his responses to his critics like Limbaugh, Santelli, etc. I said this guy was a classic case way back last summer. He had all the traits and the dysfunctional family background to trigger it.

Also checkmark on the lack of sensitivity to others. His comments this past weekend from the bowling, to AIG folks were terrorists with their finger on the financial bomb, to gallows humor...

Have we ever removed a President for being mentally ill? Forget about the whole BC issue etc. Barack is unbalanced and that makes him vulnerable to dangerous manipulation.
