President Barack Obama's intelligence chief confirmed Thursday that some Guantanamo inmates may be released on US soil and receive assistance to return to society. "If we are to release them in the United States, we need some sort of assistance for them to start a new life," said National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair at his first press conference.

"You can't just put them on the street," he added. "All that is work in progress

Dearborn?

Or Detriot - would fit right in.

But in all seriousness... for any of them to be released on US soil is a travesty. How about they live with the Obama family for a few years, with him directly responsible for them and their actions. After all, he is the terrorist-loving president.

You can’t use the term terrorism anymore dontchaknow. Homeland Security Chief Napolitano says the proper term is “man caused disasters”. Besides, these people in Gitmo are just misunderstood.

Seriously folks, under which administration did Dennis Blair become an admiral? Good God, what a bunch of incompetent screw-ups in this administration. Or is this USA’s version of Salvadore Allende?

This articles reads as though it is quoting a modern British official speaking, it is so nutty. But in a way, it makes sense -think of the tv interviews of the freed inmates in their new digs, enrolled in ESL classes and receiving a monthly assistance check, thanking Obama and saying truly, things have changed in the US since Bush left office. That public “thank you so much” on camera is what the new administration craves from Islamists, and if necessary, these will do. I hate to be cynical, I am just a mom reading the political news, but this looks so like a pathetic attempt to gain approval.

The world is laughing its collective ass off at us.

These guys should have been shot as irregular combatants eight years ago. After a drumhead court-martial in the locale where they were captured. Period.

I am not advocating violence but I would be gratified if a released guest terrorist were to somehow run afoul of the local thugs and get the justice the government denied him.

Anyway, after a couple of winters in Buffalo or Lewiston, these guys will be pining for the good old days in Gitmo.

I begged people not to vote for this nitwit. As bad as McCain was, I knew Mama O would be a disaster. I remember even jokingly saying, “This schmoe would probably unload some of these terrorists right onto our streets,” never believing as radical a leftist as he is, would actually have the gall to do such a thing. But lo and behold, it cometh to pass, because Obamaland is, indeed, Bizzaro World, where going into massive debt will cut spending and where terrorists are now subsidized on the taxpayers dime. Un-freakin’-believable. I must remember to buy a good supply of barf bags now, before there is a real run on them.

Obama does not want an honest citizen to be able to own a gun but he wants terrorists to be given all sorts of liberties to walk freely among us, enjoying more freedoms than a peaceful citizen is to be allowed to have.

Turn terrorists loose in America and give them taxpayer-funded assistance.

Great job, 53% of American voters. You elected this terrorist-coddling, anti-American empty suit as president. Now we’re all paying for it.

17 of these 20 are Chinese? Great....they’ll head to my neck of the woods (the Northwest) where they’ll blend right in.

I think that they would be seen as government snitches by their ubber radicalized brethren who would terminate their ability to breathe in short order...still a win-win situation.

Chinese? Must be mid-level management to oversee how the PLA’s money is being spent with the terrorists. Asymmetrical warfare at its best.

The people in the government are nuts. They should take the Gitmo inmates back to the spot where they found them in Afghanistan, or whatever, and release them there, with a day’s water and food.

I think I just figured it out, although my tinfoil hat is on crooked. This could be a brilliant, absolutely brilliant and sinister strategy to provoke a terrorist attack and then use it as an excuse to crack down on the civil rights of law-abiding citizens. They bring in terrorists and, knowing that they are still terrorists, release them into society. Some terrorists get guns and commit a spectacular act ot terrorism. The terrorists are killed and their identity is covered up, and they are portrayed as “ordinary Americans who had access to guns.” The mass media would go along with this completely. The government would not have to aid the terrorists beyond letting them free. All or most of the terrorists would go back to planning an attack and sooner or later some of them would be successful. Then Congress writes the “The Domestic Surveilance, Gun Control and Thought Crimes Act of 2010” and Obama signs it.

Take him to Kinkos and help them get their resume sorted out. Prolly best to leave out the stint at Gitmo however - might scare off some potential employers. Better just to say that they were doing some “consulting” or “contract work” during that period of time. Maybe after that we can drive them by the DQ and get a slushy and a burger and then if time, take in a baseball game or go by the zoo.

Hopefully FEMA still has some of those $2000 visa debit cards, cause they are going to need some walkin’ around money and some incidentals.

Throw in an apartment and a car, and we probably have the all the makings of a nice life.

I’m sure they harbor no resentments to the country that kept them in a cage for 10 years, so there should be little to no risk of them taking up their former activities.

Works for me!

I was thinking they should be taken to Alaska, harnessed up and trained for a run in the Iditarod, then, if they survive the race, perhaps taken up and turned loose in the tundra where Allah can decide their fate and that process can be recorded in a reality TV program. Don’t torture them, though. Their religion is one of peace and harmony.
