Milford, CT (AHN) - Following an incident where a child was struck in the groin and had to be hospitalized, a Connecticut middle school has banned all physical contact.
East Shore Middle School principal Catherine Williams sent letters out to parents this week informing them of the policy, WCBS TV in Milford, Conn. reported.
Williams said violating the policy could result in "parent conferences, detention, suspension and/or a request for expulsion from school," she said in the letter.
Some parents at the school are angry about the rule because it goes for non-violent contact like hugging, high-fives and handshakes.
The Connecticut Post is reporting that eighth-grade students protested the policy by coming to school wrapped in blue duct tape Friday.

Wow. 'Republican' Eighth Graders protesting? Good on them! :)

Connecticut seems to have more wimps per capita than most states. Their Eighth Graders have more starch than the adults.

Well, at least the child has a toy to play with if she can reach it.

This school is covering itself, as well it should.
It’s ashame it’s come to this, but some kids really don’t know how to behave.

Its ashame its come to this, but some kids really dont know how to behave. It's even more of a shame that many six-figure salaried school administrators don't really know how to use common sense, discretion, and reasonable judgment. They just rush to adopt one-size-doesn't-fit all zero-tolerance policies right our of the Soviet Gulag.

It seems like a no-hitting rule would makes sense, and let there be consequences for violating it....
To: lightman

The real problem here is that idiots are awarded teaching certificates, and when they eventually end up running schools, they are STILL IDIOTS!!!!

This would not be happening if the schools were put under state and local control. Federal control of education - another "benefit" of Civil Rights - has taken our education system to global lows.

I would have been in big trouble if I kicked my classmate's testicles back up into his stomach. The principal would have called my parents in and I would have been punished. There's no need to implement ridiculous policies that treat children like mindless robots who lack self control. It reminds of the way moslums force women to cover themselves from head to toe so the men don't have to control their sexual urges and desires.
