The Hudson River. Isn’t that, according to New Yorkers, the boundary of the forbidden zone? Everything west of it is, well, just a place to be scorned? :)

Today, Henry Hudson could sail up the Raritan and Rahway Rivers instead of the Hudson and he would find plenty of the Asian Indians he sought! :-)
This sounds like as good an excuse as any to come back and visit New Amsterdam again Knighthawk!

Yes that true but the “Bridge and Tunnel Crowd” keep reminding them just how close they are to the Barbarians!

I’ve been to the Scheepvaartmuseum at least three times. It’s awesome, and a must see in Amsterdam.

Thanks again for posting. Our family is visiting NYC in June — I hope the exhibit is still open then.

I’m perplexed. Why is a museum in the most urbane and sophisticated city in the world having an exhibit celebrating the achievements of dead white patriarchal males from Europe? This doesn’t make any sense.

"Everything west of it is, well, just a place to be scorned?" Yes. Also any part of NY State north or west of Westchester County is simply "Upstate" and subject to the same derision.

We had TWO Hudson Hornets on my block in Brooklyn in the mid-50s.

Only rabid Manhattanites have that view..Not really. I used to work with a bunch of guys from Queens, Long Island and Brooklyn and they felt that way too.

the Museum of the City of New York opens Amsterdam/New Amsterdam: The Worlds of Henry Hudson. I've never been to this museum. Is it near Central Park?
