I don't remember in past wars where Generals and Admirals were questioned by the media everytime they turned around.

General George S. Patton, might disagree. So would General MacCarthur.

Of course I thought of that. They were questioned on the course of the war, but not loaded questions on the presidency or politics....or at least they didn't comment.

Later, when Gen. MacArthur fell out with Truman, it was a different story. Even then, the General pretty much kept his mouth shut.
