Has anything been said by the news as to the shooter’s motive?

Police in Carthage, N.C., are investigating whether a gunman charged with shooting and killing eight people at a nursing home targeted the site because his estranged wife works there as a nurse, the Associated Press reports.

The suspected gunman, Robert Stewart, 45, was injured in a shootout with police after he allegedly killed seven elderly residents and a staff member at Pinelake Health and Rehab, the AP says.

The elderly victims ranged in age from 78 to 98, The Raleigh News and Observer reports.

Yeah. The practice of using "alleged" makes sense when a suspect whose name is stated, has been apprehended, especially other than at the crime scene. As in "John Smith, of 123 Apple Street, is alleged to have been the shooter in last Thursdays rampage....".

When they describe the perp functionally but without a name, as in "the alleged shooter", they just make themselves look like idiots if they use "alleged", unless they're trying to say they're unsure if a shooting actually occurred at all.

“only reason it’s here is to prove later (probably tomorrow) that it was NOT an “assault weapon”, AK-47, or whatever else the gun grabbers will say it was.”

Even CNN hasn’t said that. They quoted someone as saying he was armed with a rifle, shotgun and other weapons.

Turns out this was suicide by cop

If this was suicide, why is he in custody?

>When they describe the perp functionally but without a name, as in “the alleged shooter”,<

That’s kind of what I was thinking in my original post.

How can it be alleged? 8 people are dead.

It looks like more PC madness.

I do get what everyone was telling me about not prejudicing the jury, but these people are dead now and there’s nothing alleged about that.

I have no idea what his motive was other than he’s just plain flat out evil. That kind of evil makes no sense at all, and I don’t believe it can be explained away by depression, meds, cancer, ODS or a troubled marriage or whatever else they allege.

It seems so. Were I conspiracy-minded, I’d think a provocateur was trying to assault our Second Amendment rights by generating outrage...

Wouldn't surprise me at this point.

It's a proven fact that communists have zero value of human life because to them the means justify the ends. So them gunning down entire families and helpless elderly is acceptable as long as all guns are outlawed so they can rule every aspect of our lives with impunity.

From a toddler at a nursery to a 98yr old in an old folks home. From a one-room amish schoolhouse to a huge university. From the churches to the malls to the workplaces. No one is safe.* That is the message here. They are the American equivalent of the Iraqi suicide bomber. And we are getting hit for the same reasons.

*Though they haven’t hit hospitals yet. That will be next.

A lone cop arrived and shot the shooter in the chest, while the shooter shot the cop in the leg.

Apparently the wound was survivable if treated and the shooter was treated.

If it had killed him instantly that would have been fine.

But it didn’t.

However the cop was clearly shooting with intent to take the guy out.

Too, bad the domestic terrorist survived. Well, now it will cost the tax payers $$$$$$$$$$$ to give the POS three hots + a cot.

Head shots are the best wehn dealing with these (domestics terrorists) formerly known as criminals(sugar-coated)verbalization.

The cop was trying to save his own life as well as other lives.

Not being there, and not knowing how the cop was trained, I can’t pass judgement on the cop’s shot.

I just know it was an encounter in a hallway just the cop and the shooter, like Matt Dillon and the gunslinger in Gunsmoke.

I see no reason why the cop would have deliberately held back.

The chest is a bigger target than the head, or some reason I can’t imagine, had to be in play.

It was split second.

The police are trained to take shots at center mass. They’re not Green Berets or Navy SEALS who routinely practice head shots in close quarters combat.

Our only hope is the POS dies of an embolism in the hospital, or pleads guilty followed by a swift execution.
