The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.

Quid pro quo I'd say, as Obama's snowball gets bigger as it heads for Hell.
In a true free mkt sys, Wagoner would have been put to the curb, GM would be Chap 11, and more than likely come again profitable, though much leaner.
Obama is digging himself in a hole, and it's only a matter of time before it is too deep for him to crawl out of.
