In recent months, my Auto Task Force has been reviewing requests by General Motors and Chrysler for additional government assistance as well as plans developed by each of these companies to restructure, modernize, and make themselves more competitive.

It is my hope that the steps I am announcing today will go a long way towards answering many of the questions people may have about the future of GM and Chrysler. But just in case there are still nagging doubts, let me say it as plainly as I can -- if you buy a car from Chrysler or General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired, just like always. Your warrantee will be safe.
In fact, it will be safer than it's ever been. Because starting today, the United States government will stand behind your warrantee.
Great, because the government gaurantee of home mortgages worked out so well. Obama - messiah and mechanic.

I missed the part of the Constitution that gives the government the authority to run private industries- does anyone have a link to it?

I missed the part of the Constitution that gives the government the authority to run private industries- does anyone have a link to it? I think it is in the same paragraph with the penumbras and emanations.

Did I miss the part about having Ron Gettlefinger of the UAW step down? I forgot, the reason the company is in existence is to take care of the union.
(I will not buy another car from a UAW controlled company again)

Since it is the DEALERS that actually perform the warranty work, doe this mean that IF the DEALERS continue to perform warranty work they will be taking BAILOUT MONEY, therefore making them subject to the whims of the government? Thanks, but no thanks. The fact is that the manufacturers have been stiffing the dealers on warranty work for the last two or three years. I predict that many dealers will just simply REFUSE to work on the manufacturer warrantied vehicles. Where do we go from there Mr. Obama?

His measures are all subjective. Does anyone challenge what this dope says?
It is pretty scary stuff that A person can determine how or whether huge corporations are aloud to operate.
If people actually think this is a good thing we are in even more trouble than we think.

I wouldn’t touch a GM or Chrysler product today for any reason. Never would want to have to deal with anything that ZERO has touched. Ford is the only smart US manufacture IMHO and I am not buying them either. I will stick with Toyota — not buying anything made by UAW workers. Not interested in bailing any of them out. UAW is running ZERO but they cannot tell the consumer where to buy. Glad the Toyota’s are fairly new because I am not buying a new car while ZERO has full power in DC with no Congress to stop him.

Since the govt. will be in competition with Toyota, Honda, etc., don’t you think that pretty soon they will be trying to hurt those mfrs.? Forcing them to accept unions, for example?
