I think at the peak Ford owed over 40% of Mazda

My father was selling resins and adhesives to Mazda throughout the 80's. This after retiring from Ford's commodity purchasing team. He was on the Design Team of the Pinto (interior) and actually designed the first "child safety seat" for Ford.

Ok ford is the only US car maker not to steal tax money. But they have the same Unions pensions backed by the tax payer. and even Fords unions still support the liberals. not only that Ford has been listed as a gay freindly company,

so go out and buy that great homo, pro union, liberal ford

I will never buy from that big fat unionized company with pro homo views and donations, they is sick. did not henry ford support hilter prior to the war?, I heard henry was anti-jewish.

Well, Ford, unlike GM and Chrysler, reached agreements with the UAW on health care costs and other things and they have become a lot leaner than the others.

As for the homosexual agenda, Ford cut their advertising in gay magazines after conservatives boycotted their products. So, I think they’re ok.

I know, RAW-RAW Ford.

You would have a hard time convincing me or my son of that because several times, over the years, THE most trouble or frustration I have ever had over a vehicle came from Ford.

My Son just bought a new F-150 (’09). He was caught in a large snow storm. It not only got stuck several times and was pulled out by Chevy's, the “Brilliant” engineers at Ford decided that placing the fuel system intake in the wheel well was the way to go.

Needless to say, the engine sucked in huge quantities of snow and ice into the intake manifold, which promptly cracked, allowing more snow, ice, salt and sand from the road directly into the engine. He finally had to be towed into the Ford dealer because the engine quit.

The total repair bill came to over 4500 Dollars and Ford will not warranty it. (Because they said my son made a poor choice to drive in those conditions) Now, the engine runs really crappy, gets about 12 miles per gal. and uses oil. He finally took it back in to them and told them to stick it. Ford's dealers suck and so do their vehicles.

He then went out and bought a new Toyota Tundra and it has NO such engineering stupidity. In fact, I am very impressed and will consider one myself if my Duramax ever gives me trouble or wears out. (perhaps in another 10 or 15 years.)

Find a Ford Employee to Sponsor you for "X" plan for friends and extended family. The savings could be substantial.

I do not know if this offer works with "X" Plan.

If you can wait a year join the Experimental Aircraft Association ( And get the magazine )

EAA members get "X" plan, Ford is a big sponsor of EAA.

Well, like Batman, it is good to have at least one of every type of vehicle, so I would not be averse to getting a new car and an experimental aircraft (or at least join a club about them - they are very cool).

Agreed. I have one and after 18 months haven’t found a problem with it. Thinking about buying a second one or Mercury Milan. Handles like it’s on rails. Recommend the SEL with leather. That’s the only option that anyone really needs on it.

No they are not ok, they want ot back teh gays, just is it was starting to hurt sales, so they publically backed off. do you think the homos their really changed their views? willthey take their profits, income, and support gay causes? they cant go back in the closet, they have been outed. They are still unionized, and we know how union folks voted in the last election. For that damage alone, I’d like to see every union worker laid off.

I’ll stick withnon-unionized car makers, that are not gay.

With govt involvement in GM and Chrysler, we will get badly made cars that no one wants funded by my tax dollars, which will be sued again to pay overpaid workers benefits I can only dream of having.

When this happens, Ford will be unable to compete with a state-run auto company and they too will fall under government control.

I think a basic problem is simply overcapacity. There are millions of cars sitting on dealer lots and front yards for sale today. Many cars and trucks are also scrapped long before the whole unit is wore out because of incompetent or over-priced repairs. In my own family two cars were saved from premature scrapping by the installation of a $20 part when shop mechanics had wrongly stated they needed the expensive computer replaced ( ignition keyswitch in one Ford and the crank sensor in a Chevy.)

When something new is introduced ,everyone is a potential customer, but after a century of mass production the demand falls to replacement or upgrades.

That is really why the switch to digital TV;because the factories can't stay open producing just the units needed to replace old TVs as they wear out.

Same thing with cars.

It's also why clothing companies and designers are forever changing styles, thus inducing foolish customers to discard vast quantities of perfectly usable goods.

If "they" thought they could get away with it,all current cars would be outlawed ,and a government mandated eco-friendly vehicle would be your next big purchase, whether you wanted one or not!

what you said about the tundora.

My only gripe was that the 4wd was too easy to burn out
when I got stuck in a snowbank.

I’m getting another one as soon as theres a diesel version
capable of pulling 10K (e.g. an Airstream).

If I buy an American-headquartered vehicle next time, it will be a Ford(I have one now, a Ford Escape with 119K miles, Im quite pleased, though the ConTrac tires it came with were awful—full of defects.

Is this one of those offers “for well qualified buyers” meaning if you actually need a loan to buy a new car, you’re not well qualified?

LOL! You have quite a posting history for a newbie who’s only been registered for two weeks (dhm914 Since Mar 17, 2009.)

Most of them seem designed to provoke extremist reactions, the same type of behavior exibited by Dirty Underpants and MorOn trolls who frequent FR in an attempt to prove what a bunch of ‘homophobes’ and ‘gay bashers’ we are.

Are you pen pals with Fred Phelps as well?

They have corrected that problem greatly. They re engineered the drive train on the Tundras. They are bullet proof as of 2009.

And they have a Duramax class diesel coming soon, along with a high touq tranny very similar to the Alison. I can hardly wait. Their electrical, PLC and electronics systems are THE ones to beat. And they will never have Unions to bully them around. They will pull out of the USA before they allow that to happen. Besides, the ONLY reason the US manufacturers can compete is because of robotics. Any thread of quality the now have is because the Union workers no longer touch the basic assembly and manufacture. But even still, way too many Union workers are allowed to do more than they should be allowed on US made vehicles. which is why Toyota, Nissan, etc, blow them away in all quality areas.
