Four Oakland, Calif., police officers shot down. An Alabama man strolling a small town with a rifle, looking for victims. Seven elderly people shot dead at a North Carolina nursing home. And on Sunday, six people, including four kids, died in an apparent murder-suicide in an upscale neighborhood in Santa Clara, Calif.
The details in all these cases are still emerging. In most, the exact motive has yet to be determined – or may never be fully understood.
On a broader level, however, such incidents may be happening more often because an increasing number of Americans feel desperate pressure from job losses and other economic hardship, criminologists say.

Of course a recession leads to more crime -
“duh” when there is LESS MONEY AROUND = crime goes UP!
Of course when people are EMOTIONALLY concerned -
“duh” MORE will ACT OUT.
In general our society is less and less restrained in good time so it will be worse in bad times. They are not thinking. They are FEELING! DUH!
It’s not nonstop overage that incents people.
What “incents” people is when they are in tough times.
What “incents” people is when they are emotionally unstable when things are falling apart.
MANY are losing their jobs daily.
This stuff frightens people if they haven’t SAVED MONEY or are prepared for these situations. MOST are unprepared for “rainy days” so they ACT OUT ON IT. You will see more of this if things continue to get worse - which I fear they will. It’s all COMMON SENSE.
The left will begin trying to pin this increase on the uptick in gun/ammo sales very soon...just wait.

Maybe. The most overlooked common denominator in these senseless shooting incidents is that most of the perps have been on/off anti-depressants.

In the case of Oakland PD, the perp was a parole violator and had raped a 12-year old girl in February (linked to 4-5 others) and was sure he would return to prison for life (3rd Strike).
The “economy” really wasn’t a factor in Lovelle Mixon’s case in Oakland.
And so it begins.
Yes, that's been especially true for young perpetrators (i.e. school-age).
My point was that these people used to go off into a corner and commit suicide by themselves. Now, they can guarantee that their name and picture will be plastered on the front page of every newspaper and news website. And one pundit after another will be asking "why, why, why?". The perpetrator will get their 15 minutes of fame (and then some).
The media must stop these orgies and instead condemn these perpetrators as what they are: criminals and monsters. Stop the endless analysis of "why?" and state the fact: there is no possible justification. End of discussion.
If they want to personalize the story, talk about the damage that was done to innocent lives and their families. Emphasize that there's no way they could have deserved this, and that the person responsible for it is reprehensible.
The "media" would do better to roll up their sleeves and do some honest investigative journalism, for a change. With just a little digging, they'd uncover the fact that there's a common thread of anti-depressant use among these wack job shooters.
At this point, they should already be asking the question, "is there something to this connection?"
Instead, the liberal numb-nuts in the press just trot out the standard anti-gun propaganda, as if inanimate objects are to blame.
Never mind that in Great Britain and Australia, where they've already disarmed the population, violent crime has actually risen as a result of their weapons bans.
People had guns long before these shooting sprees began with regularity. What people are failing to do, is to ask the simple question, "why the sudden, senseless violence among people who are not criminals or born killers?"
These crazy shooting sprees began around the same time that anti-depressant medications began to be consumed on a mass scale in this country, and have increased at the same rate of that consumption.

If they are, who cares? Not to sound callous, but it’s a proven fact that highway deaths fall during tough times, since people conserve more and travel less. I’m sure the shooting deaths have been more than evened out by the drop in car accidents. Of course, the media won’t come out and tell us that. Shootings are so dramatic whereas hoghway statistics are downright prosaic.
