Boston Globe ^ | 3/28/09 | Frank Phillips

Contradicting a series of steadfast denials, internal e-mails show that Governor Deval Patrick's top aides controlled the appointment of state Senator Marian Walsh to a high-paying job at a state authority, from setting her salary to crafting her job description. They also provided the agency's talking points for the news media in an attempt to quell a public uproar. "I'm going to send you a proposed job description from [Patrick chief of staff Doug Rubin] soon," Patrick senior adviser Jay Gonzalez told the two top officials at the Massachusetts Health and Education Facilities Authority in a March 11 e-mail.

She dropped the price down to $120,000 to quell the storm on Monday.

Her husband is collecting around $250,000 a year between his pension and no-show job.

Why is there no RICO investigation up here?

Great to see this in the Globe, of all papers. Front page or buried?

Since the Globe is going out of business they have been attacking the local government lately. Jealousy has clearly kicked in and since they can't get on the gravy train they are exposing their friends.

The Globe knows where the skeletons are in the Patrick administration. Howie Carr wrote an article about this over the weekend.

It's akin to a death row inmate ratting out his friends.

Maybe she’s qualified to go to Chi-town to take Minnie the Moocher’s former hospital job now that she done “moved on up”

That job was abolished when she left. Just like it was created just for her.

“It’s akin to a death row inmate ratting out his friends.”

Then I hope it is a very, very slow demise.

The best part is how they had to change the job description of the vacant post to match up with Sen. Walsh’s “experience”.

Once the email’s are released to the public it is going to devastate the Patrick administration.

Talk about campaign fodder. Dead man walking.

By the way this is his third time pulling this stunt.

Why do we have a budget crisis again?

I know— but this Mass-hole woman would be a steal at under $200K. Win-win. She can even go to dinner parties at the Ayers home....

There are lots of good folks in Mass. Boston’s a great town to visit-a dear friend used to live there and I visted frequently. I have a cousin who’s a cop in a small Central Mass. town. Great guy.

That said, what’s in the water there? Sir Edward of Chappaquidick, Kerry, Coupe Deval, Dukakis, the love for Zero, and Bawney Fwank bringing up the rear—Oy Vey!

I remember (true story) there was a guy who worked as a factory worker in Boston at the Gillette Razor plant—his name was John F. Kennedy-this was in the 50s-he put his name on the state ballot and ran for Mass. state treasurer-no qualifications or experience just the name and was elected to a couple terms. Honest.

I see the word out now, today, is that she isn’t taking the job because of the controversy. Finally, a small battle won!!!

Demographics.

Mostly it can be blamed on a high percentage of single woman. I believe it is one of the highest in the country.

Many of these woman are from out of state brought here to attend our colleges.

Any pollster will tell you that single woman vote democrat in very hi numbers. When they marry they often change party affiliation.
