I would think it would be too chilly for sleeveless.

The high today was 56 but apparently the cold never seems to bother Michelle nor does a sense of fashion when meeting the Queen in a tank top and cardigan.

That would be nice as long as he is spending his own money on 'staying gone'!

He's spending our money no matter what ... the only issue is whether it's on something harmless, like posing with Queen Elizabeth, or something disastrous.

Barack always looks very pleased with himself, but I don't think Michelle is enjoying herself as much as she expected to. Being First Lady takes a lot of effort (whether it's useful or not), while her other job was apparently a large paycheck for doing nothing.

I found some sites which sell the saddle oxfords but can not remember if the soles were black, white or red. Think I will order me a pair. Now, I need to find a poodle skirt, sweater, and one of those small scarves worn around the neck. Do you remember those?

I do not remember the ribbon tied for a page boy but I do remember ribbons being tied around a pony tail.

Do you remember pedal pushers? I was going through my senior yearbook and saw a photo of us on our senior trip to Florida. Most of the girls had them on. I think they are coming back in fashion. There were a lot of photos of girls wearing formals for homecoming, etc. Most of them looked like they had hoops under them. I wore one with my blue formal. Loaned it to a friend about 20 years ago and did not get it back.

What fun this has been! I love to remember what I did when I was much younger. Thanks for the memories.

Laura Bush denied the claim and said her daughter wore a skirt.

Yeah, saddle oxfords. Found several sites which sell them. They are a lot more than what I paid for them way back when. Think I will order a pair. Don’t remember what color the soles were though—red, white or coral. Need to get my yearbook back out and see if anyone has some on. Also want to find a poodle skirt, sweater, and the small scarf which we wore around our necks. My granddaughter is going to think I have really lost it if I showed up in something like that. Guess it would be fun to shock her though. What fun!

The comments on that linked message board, regarding her “fabulous” sense of fashion, makes me question if I’m the peculiar one who just can’t see it. Thank goodness for this thread.

She has looked awful in everything I have seen her in.
Everything seems to emphasize what should not be emphasized.
She will never look classy.

Yes, class. I knew I would miss George and Laura Bush, but I didn't think it would be this bad.

We never had cause for concern with Laura Bush as First Lady. She never embarrassed the country. Her clothing was perfect. She didn't try to dress over (or under) the top, and she had perfect posture and a ladylike walk and stance. She was composed, sure of herself, and well-spoken. She was perfect, as far as I'm concerned.

Heh. My elder sister had black and white saddle shoes. I don’t know what colour the soles were, though. Funny.

“Do you remember those?”

Do I EVER! I got my first skirt, sweater and scarf (with a scatter pin) when I was six years old. My two front teeth were missing, and I twirled and twirled and twirled and twirled in the home movies my dad made. I got my second set pink with fluffy white poodles all over them when I was 7 and I finally had teeth to go with all that glamor. ;-)

Pedal pushers were ALL the rage as were those pony tails. Yup, I can say I remember the glam of the 50s well. The 60s were the page boys with bows and knees socks with penny loafers or brogans, peter pan collars with wool shorts or plaid skirts. I wore saddle shoes my whole way through elementary school. The red soles came after the time we remember — they were black when we were kids.

I think it is a lie anyway. It sounds like something David 'the liar' Brock (Soros funded 'Media Matters') would print. And the rest of the lunatics always pick it up and run with it, guaranteed.

I have searched everything I can find and it's posted nowhere except DUmmieland and it's a remark one of those fruit-loops posted and not a printed story.

Does she have one of these monstrosities in every color?

Like PIAPS, but taller with worse posture.

Her designer was thinking “how can you make a skinny woman look fat”. That is not becoming IMO however I think I did see her get off the plane with a very attractive A-line outfit. It had some weird thing across her empire waistline but otherwise attractive.

This was not an audience with the Queen.

Obama, in his usual classless manner, requested the visit; he was not invited.

Meeting HRM the Queen, Obama, gave her a two handed handshake. a NoNo according to State Department Protocol.

I saw the youtube video and it is hard to tell. It IS interesting on how in the video the Prince is standing behind the Queen, steps in to say something about their trip, then steps back and waves them in for a photo. It almost looked like MO was going to the outside, but the Prince gestured her in to be next to the Queen.

What caught my eye on the tape is how MO comes walking into the room like a linebacker! Obama is a few steps behind her. I would have figured the President would come first, or at least together!? (MO first through the door, pauses, lets hubby come along side for a few steps and then he goes first, etc.

Regardless, Prince Philip sure seems to know the protocal and his place (a step behind the Queen).
