"Mr Obama had managed to make Mr Brown look good. Another amazing achievement."
"Allegedly the most charismatic politician in the world, Mr Obama was a disappointment."
Allegedly the most charismatic politician in the world, Mr Obama was a disappointment. It sounded as though he had a blocked nose and so his lack of energy may have been a symptom of a cold. Jet lag, too.
Mr Obama fiddled with the cuff of one sleeve, Prince Charles-style, while Mr Brown hosed him down with treacle.
Obama spoke slowly, in a meandering manner. Some might say that he was thoughtful and professorial. Others might call his manner circuitous, even yarny.
Am I saying that he was a bore? Oh dear. I find that I possibly am. But in a good way, arguably. He came across as a president who would consult and think thrice before bombing the smithereens out of a foreign capital.
For his part, Mr Obama stared at Mr Brown with two weary, slightly glazed eyes, his mouth agape. When Mr Brown let him get a word in, it was 'Gordon' this and 'Gordon' that.
[Obama's] replies were on the chewy side and came out at the speed of an action replay on Match of the Day. So slow, in fact, that at one point a man from the Guardian dropped his tape recorder on the floor.
Mr Obama's best moment was when he was charming about the Queen.
Our old donkey Gordon, by comparison to this American visitor, was for once Mr Eloquent, Mr Quick-Off-The-Mark.
Mr Obama had managed to make Mr Brown look good. Another amazing achievement. They left with Mr Obama snaking an arm round his host's shoulder and ushering him from the room. Very much an 'I'm in charge' gesture.

The POWER PLAY that Obama does with EVERYBODY with his hand on the other’s shoulder makes me CRINGE!
That's our Barry.
Yarny Barry.
What is it about Obama doing the power, alpha 'touchy' thing?
First Michelle puts her arm AROUND THE QUEEN!!! And now this move on Brown. Does anyone in the 'smartest administration, ever, ever' know anything at all about protocol!?!?!?!
This is where I love the British - to be mentally quick on your feet - speak well - and have a quick wit - is something required in those parliament sessions.
I’ve only seen a few of those on pbs but they sure are entertaining.
Obama wouldn’t last 1 minute in one of those sessions.
No, Brits, this is the very same stuttering, hesitating, telepromter needing guy that ran for office here; its just when he finally made a cohesive statement, it included bashing the rich, taking their hard earned money, and giving it to those who are not willing to work for it.
Their eyes glazed over and they were mesmerized. The rest of the world bought it hook, line and sinker, because it sounded so much like their own govt’s and politicians. Now, as the world wakes up and realizes that without America sticking to the free market values that helped raise all standards of living throughout the world and moving toward the socialist/communist model that will sink it, you are all waking up to the facts we tried to warn everyone about before the election.
We will appreciate all help in getting this resolved asap, so keep writing.

Whether it was justified or not.
Did she?!? How much more embarrassing can these folks be? Michelle should go back to hoeing the garden.
Good. Anything that exposes Obama for being the jackass he really is is positive.
I would say an American teleprompter thats built for 60 hertz might just slow down a bit on Britains 50 hertz electrical.
Adapters are made to convert from 220v to 110v but the frequency isn’t.
Realistically they know how to correct it but it would be astonishingly funny to hear the zero do a slo-mo speech.
Yes there is another thread about it here on FR (sorry, I can’t linky from cell phone). But its here.
I really think this ‘touchy’ thing is some kind of psycho babble ‘alpha’ move.
I enjoyed that one too.
"Whenever we proclaim the uniqueness of a religion, a truth, a leader, a nation, a race, a part or a holy cause, we are also proclaiming our own uniqueness".
"Vehemence is the expression of a blind effort to support and uphold something that can never stand on its own... Whether it our own meaningless self we are upholding, or some doctrine devoid of evidence, we can do it only in a frenzy of faith".
"We usually see only the things we are looking for so much so that we sometimes see them where they are not".
"When our individual interests and prospects do not seem worth living for, we are in desperate need for something apart from us to live for. All forms of dedication, devotion, loyalty and self-surrender are in essence a desperate clinging to something which might give worth and meaning to our futile, spoiled lives"
"Failure in the management of practical affairs seems to be a qualification for success in the management of public affairs".
"The urge to escape our real self is also an urge to escape the rational and the obvious. The refusal to see ourselves as we are develops a distaste for facts and cold logic. There is no hope for the frustrated in the actual and the possible. Salvation can come to them only from the miraculous, which seeps through a crack in the iron wall of inexorable reality. They ask to be deceived. What Stresemann said of the Germans is true of the frustrated in general: "[They] pray not only for [their] daily bread, but also for [their] daily illusion.".... They are easily persuaded and led".
Lemme fix that for you.
He came across as a president who would consult and think thrice before bombing the smithereens out of a foreign capital an aspirin factory.
Oh Dear, did someone leave Mr Obama’s stimulating friend Reggie at home?
zerO really needs those trips to the gym (once reported 6 times in one day) with Reggie to keep his energy level up....
ah, I read the Queen put her arm around Michelle first.
Poor ol lady was probably looking for her glasses on the shelf behind her armoire
please tell me that’s photoshopped
