WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has chosen Robert M. Groves to be the next census director, turning to a professor who has clashed with Republicans over the use of statistical sampling to lead the high-stakes head count.
The White House will announce the selection of Groves on Thursday, a Commerce Department official told The Associated Press. The official demanded anonymity because the individual was not authorized to speak before the announcement.

I’m just surprised Obama didn’t outsource the whole census operation to ACORN. Then we would have learned that the country is 70% Black and Hispanic.

I think you only have to reveal how many are in the house.
How you vote would be a violation of your privacy.
Last month, the census bureau announced sites for job applications and testing. Without warning, they cancelled all the test sessions in the suburbs, leaving sessions only in black and hispanic areas of town.
They aren’t being very subtle about this.
A hundred bucks? Worth every penny.
But I remember last time....people said the same....and the "takers" won...in the end.
Hey I’m unemployed and recently got a job with the census; we’re not all ‘goons’, and I am just as upset at its politization as you are! If anything this is wrong; if we don’t have fair elections then are we even a ‘Republic’?
