(04-04) 13:50 PDT WASHINGTON (AP) --

Lawrence Summers, President Barack Obama's top economic adviser, earned millions over the past year as managing director of the hedge fund D.E. Shaw Group and through speaking fees, some from financial institutions now at the center of the government's rescue program.

Financial disclosure reports released by the White House show that Summers received $5.2 million from D.E. Shaw. He also reported payments for appearances before institutions such as J.P. Morgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers.

Overall, Summers was paid $2.7 million for more than 40 appearances before different organizations and companies, including financial institutions.

Should read: Obama adviser WAS paid millions as hedge fund director

He didn't pay millions to anyone.

Right. I only cut/pasted what the paper had. Apparently that's how AP wrote it; same headline at ap.tbo.com.

Headlines are not required to use perfect grammar.

Of course, someone will now correct me and say:

“You SHOULD have said”:

“One is not required to use perfect grammar when writing headlines”

No surprise...it is a requirement in the 0bama administration to have at least one conflict of interest.

I think the MSM wrote it that way intentionally since most people only read the headlines. Very misleading. But hey! That’s the MSM’s job!

I fully expect one of our esteemed ‘republican’ representatives in Congress to make a big, one-day stink about this issue, probably even appearing on Fox News to do it. Oh, and then two days later, he’ll disappear and allow the issue to fade away. But for one day, a bunch of us on this site and across America, again, will actually think that someone is going to stand up for us. Ever.

I think that we have to stand up for ourselves. There really is no one else to do it. I can think of attending tea parties, writing/calling members of congress, planting signs where we can, asking good conservative folks to run for local/state offices as a way to start. In other words...making some noise.

And by all means lets support good people who do the right thing. Even if you cannot afford to contribute to a campaign or cause, kind words in an email help in their own way.

Another one of his advisors is the head of GE who sold to the Iranians and tanked the GE stock into the ground. These are the people with access to the throne room.

Gonna take something more harsh than this on the front end. Then, once we get their attention, scare the hell out of them, and change the dynamic, we have a chance to fix things. But the standard approaches have all been blocked and corrupted, including the ballot box.

earned millions over the past year

Millions over the past YEAR. I'll bet the Obama-maniacs are comforted by that news. I'm sure similar prosperity is just around the corner for them now that Obama is president...

We need to start organizing some buss tours. I'll bet there are plenty of genetically inferior women (you know, the ones Larry said are genetically incapable of using or applying higher math skills - at least at Harvard) who would like to buy a seat!

I'll bet they won't be throwing tea bags!!!

I’m worrying about the day when the American peasant class trades the tea bags for Molotov Cocktails!

This, friends, is the Democrat party in a nutshell. Republicans should have plenty to talk about this morning if they get the chance to. Obama’s G-20 gambit is yet another diversion compared to the crap that’s hitting the fan back home.

I heard he needed the money. His grocery bill alone must have been over $6 million last year.
