I wonder if they actually managed to get a satellite into orbit... surely we would see if they did or didn’t.
To: Man50D
It sounds as though this launch was either a failure because the satellite didn’t make it into orbit or it actually was a successful test of a missile designed to carry nuclear warheads. Hmmmmm.

multi-stage rocket- 2nd stage splash down in the Pacific- where the heck is the third stage? or am I being a dummy?
To: Man50D
NHK says North Korea has launched a missile as threatened with a report the second stage landed in the Pacific Ocean about 1,100 miles from Japan.
Perspective:
"Distance from Los Angeles to Pyongyang Distance is 9569 kilometers or 5946 miles or 5167 nautical miles
Distance from Anchorage to Pyongyang Distance is 6015 kilometers or 3738 miles or 3248 nautical miles "

Such a test would be a first step toward putting a nuclear warhead on a missile capable of reaching Alaska and beyond.

South Korea, the U.S. and Japan said earlier in the week they would take North Korea to the U.N. Security Council for an act they say is banned under a 2006 resolution barring Pyongyang from ballistic activity. That threat really deterred Little Kim, didn't it?
NOT!

Where is Obama? Isn’t he supposed to come out and make a statement after such an incident?
To: El Gato
Just like passing another gun law. The criminals ignore the first one so lets pass another. That really works.

And to think...
...if we hadn’t forced Japan to give up it’s Korean territory after WWII, then there wouldn’t have been a Korean War *OR* a North Korea!
Ah, well... hindsight’s 20/20.
(Of course, if you tell this to a Korean, they’ll tend to go ballistic.)
