Can Al Gore sue the government and win? He won the popular vote, and a final count of the Florida popular vote showed that he would have won that state, as well, if the recount hadn’t been stopped. The final Florida count came out after Bush had been sworn in and was serving however, so it was assumed to not really matter.

Should Gore have sued? Or demanded a revote? And that was for the Presidency, not a Senate seat.

“a final count of the Florida popular vote showed that he [Gore] would have won that state...”

What source do you have for that comment? Memory is that in the final count Bush won by @ 527 votes. Every MSM outlet has confirmed that tally, and we know they are not friendly to Bush .. how do you claim that Gore won the FL popular vote?

Lest you forget, as well, the election for the presidency is different than that for a US Senate seat. There’s a athing called the “Electoral College” not a simple popular vote.

OH, and it was Gore who demanded the recount, and filed the first suits .. he wanted the votes counted only in districts friendly to him, forget the rest. Yeah, let him go ahead and sue .. oops, he already did. And lost.

I think you’re wrong about Gore would have been winner in FL. The liberal media all went down to media (USA Today) was one of them, and actually counted the ballots or something, and discovered Bush won FL.

Actually, the final counts/recounts/media counts all showed Bush as the winner. As well, the question as to whether he should have sued is amusing as he DID sue and lost it in the Supreme Court.

Gore not only wouldn't have win FL had the recounts not been stopped, he would have lost the state by about 30,000 votes had the voting not been "stopped" by the media calling the state while the Republican panhandle still had an hour to vote. IIRC that's roughly the size of the margin the MSM is estimated to have cost Bush by their stunt. The really close state was NM, which Gore probably did steal by about 300 votes.

As for Stevens I encourage him to try. It would be a pleasant change to have RINO $ actually annoying libs. But I'd expect the courts to rule that only the Senate has jurisdiction to award him a redo and there's no way Senators Reid and Franken would allow that.

(Striving to reach the light)

I hope you do reach that light, as there's a lot of news articles you seem to have missed on the 2000 recount, and what you did read you misread.

There was no final, complete and official recount. And Gore never wanted one, nor asked for one. Gore asked for the 'Count the votes until the Democrat win' type of recount to be done in only some counties, which the Supreme Court ruled to be unConstitutional.

There were recount investigations by some newspapers, but they all showed Bush as the winner.

False. Every investigation, including that done by the NYT, demonstrated that Gore would not have won statewide. Proof that if Dems and the press tell a lie often enough, even the conservatives will begin to accept it as gospel.

The Dems wanted a recount in 4 Democrat counties ONLY. Four counties which were controlled by Dems and thus under Dems control in the recount process.
