The political problem is that corrupt prosecutors who went after Ted Stevens worked for the Bush administration’s Justice Department. Senator Stevens was indicted under Republican Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and he was prosecuted under Republican Attorney General Michael Mukasey.
The Stevens conviction was overturned at the request of the Democrat Obama administration’s Justice Department under Attorney General Eric Holder.
