I have called both my Senators Roberts and Brownback numerous times. Brownback claims he is a Catholic and strongly pro-life and both are going to vote for her confirmation. Brownback defends his vote by saying it is the lesser of two-evils.
Brownback wants to be the next governor. We need now to try
to defeat him.
With whom?
Let's let this one play out. If Kathleen gets confirmed, she is out of the 2010 Senate race which probably keeps the seat in Republican hands. Brownback has to be the odds-on favorite to win the Governor's seat. In the interim, Parkinson is no where nearly as politically powerful as Sebelius so the Republican legislature should be able to roll him.
If Kathleen doesn't get confirmed, then she probably runs for and wins the 2010 Senate race. In the interim, she thwarts anything progress the Republican legislature might make. Obama puts someone just as bad or worse in as the HHS director.
Conservatives don't have a lot of good options in this situation.
