I was bored, so I googled her.
1) She's American (Indian descent). My error in identifying her as Arab.
2) Scar is from surgery consequent to an auto accident at age 14.

I’m not sure “the Church” is the one giving this so much attentiuon
a Vatican refusal to allow filming of a sacrilegious movie in a Church-owned (and thus, private) property is being hyped by the anti-Cathoic media and by the filmmakers looking to gin up publicity for being “censored” and “persecuted” by those rabid ignorant “christian” fundies

people of faith know it's fiction, while others looking for the first excuse not to believe, the moral relativists, will look for the first excuse not to believe and will be swayed by the book and movie. To this day, I still hear Christians questioning and believing what is in the book and discussing its TRUTHS and the conspiracy.

Dan Brown is a hack, his books stink, movies made from his books blow, 6 months after he’s dead nobody will remember who he was, and there’s no such thing as bad publicity. So keeping all those things in mind the best path for the Church is to ignore him completely.

I was just about to say - this is the PREQUEL to the “Da Vinci Code.” And it is completely formulaic to Da Vinci. In fact, Brown’s books are so formulaic, that there’s an entertaining website called “write your own Dan Brown novel.”

sigh - I wish they’d be more concerned with the real threat of pro-abortion “catholic” politicians, of Obama’s intention to force catholic hospitals to close.
They seem more afraid of a less-than-talented writer of fiction.

There is no evidence to substantiate a single thing about Magdalene or book burnings,Are you saying that the Catholic church or its officials never burned books?

I'm speaking for many many people, WHO CARES.
It's a book. The same as a movie. 50 million other things to complain/protest about other than a fictional book ...
I'll order my copy when it's available, read it, then place it on my bookshelf with the rest of my books that are FICTION.

The Church isn’t harmed by it and so part of me thinks it’s much ado about nothing. Your comment, at least “why the fuss” could be said about the outrage that accompanied “The Last Temptation of Christ,” “Religulous (sp?)” and practically any movie/TV show about conservatives.
In fact, why comment on or correct the news at all? So what if the MSM lies about abortion or gun control or anything in which you believe. No “mere mortal” can harm the truth, so why worry about?
Imagine someone made a movie about this site that purports all kinds of crazy stuff in a fashion that your typical moron would believe. Would Free Republic be harmed? No. However, would there be an element of people on this board who would feel obliged to attack it, poke holes in it, etc? Absolutely.
I also think that it’s part of a marketing campaign for a movie.

Free advice to the Vatican:
Ignore works of fiction, by whatever name they are presented.
Nothing hypes works of fiction more than having a serious group or organization openly opposing it.
Just sayin.

Personally I have not read the book. And I would not.
The real shame here I think is that from the description of the book, that Jesus had sexual relations with blah..blah..blah is disgusting.
That Christians would read this blasphemous book or pay for it is the real shame.

I'd say the actions of Fr. Jenkins @ Notre Dame and other Catholic institutions that honor baby killers with a podium to speak from as well as so called Catholics who vote for them and the Church's refusal to publicly discipline these people are undermining the Catholic church far more than anything Dan Brown could write.

True, but it’s presented as based on deep historical research. Most people I meet who have read them, think all the history in them is completely accurate.

Brown has NEVER claimed his fictional books are true. That's why they call them FICTION. He is an excellent author whether you like his subject matter or not. Angels & Demons was a thrilling and brilliant story. I liked it more than the DaVinci Code.
Do you think "24" is an anti-American show because it has portrayed a president as corrupt? Get a grip.
