Moody’s downgrades Berkshire Hathaway

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway lost its triple-A grade from Moody’s Investors Service, the very ratings firm in which the billionaire holds a 20 per cent stake.
The downgrade, which follows Fitch Ratings’ one-notch cut last month, comes as Berkshire seeks to rebound from its worst year since the “Sage of Omaha” took control of the former textiles maker in 1965. Moody’s dropped Berkshire two notches, to double-A2.
“Today’s rating actions reflect the impact on Berkshire’s key businesses of the severe decline in equity markets over the past year as well as the protracted economic recession,” Bruce Ballentine, Moody’s lead analyst on Berkshire, said on Wednesday in a statement.

It is interesting to see how Warren Buffet’s fortunes have begun to decline just as he sticks his head out of his monk hole and endorses Obama. Maybe this is G-d’s way of telling Warren to stay out of politics!

Sorry to say, but who cares what Moody thinks? If I remember right,they cut AIG’s rating after the stock had already fallen to almost 2 bucks, back in Sept 08...
