Same here. My antigun, obama loving, liberal neighbor saw me loading up my M1919A6 one day and was amazed. I explained that by paying a $200.00 tax and waiting 5 months for approval, you can own a machine gun.

They said, "I know where my family and I am going when the end of the world comes", to which I replied:
"If that's the case, you'll be the first ones shot.".

I turned around, shut the truck door, smiled and walked off, leaving my neighbor with an open mouth.

I live in a poor, mostly rural area. There's no envy of wealthier folks at all here, although there is resentment against the thieveries and foreign preferences of bosses in other areas. All of the neighbors (except for the few apathetic/criminal/officious types and their denial) are stocking up on necessities--food, firewood and the like, but not much on ammo (huge amounts being expensive and not so necessary in the middle of nowhere). Most are offering to share this and that with each other without getting into personal stuff or gossip. We and others have shared with a family and an older individual, who were a little down on their luck for a time. ...also share info on greenhouses and like undertakings for self-sufficiency and escaping the global plantation. Light jokes about our various past political leanings are welcome, as we of former right and left politics are now nonpolitical and non-consumerist for the long run.
