While acknowledging that the recession makes the political battle more difficult, President Barack Obama plans to begin addressing America's immigration system this year, including looking for a path for illegal immigrants to become legal, a senior administration official said Wednesday.
Obama will frame the new effort — likely to rouse passions on all sides of the highly divisive issue — as "policy reform that controls immigration and makes it an orderly system," said the official, Cecilia Munoz, deputy assistant to the president and director of intergovernmental affairs in the White House.
Obama plans to speak publicly about the issue in May, administration officials said, and over the summer he will convene working groups, including lawmakers from both parties and a range of immigration organizations, to begin discussing possible legislation for as early as this fall.

Tort Reform, Tax Reform, Social Security Reform, Education Reform, etc. All of these ought to have been forcefully dealt with by Republicans at some point in the past 25 years. But we don't do that. We get into office, and try to increase funding in one or two areas. That's it.
Obama is working military, economic, health care, immigration, energy, and other issues -- he's working them hard and he's making fundamental changes in how how this country operates. The guy's been in office 3 months and this is what he's done.
Imagine what it would be like if a Republican had done that -- I'm not talking out the outrage that the MSM would have expressed -- I'm talking about what a better country we would have. But we just piss away all our opportunities.
My, My, we all might be working in the fields before this is all over. But I guess we won’t because the illegals will, while original Americans are at possibly 20% unemployment!!

Obama is using the Chavez playbook. We won’t be laughing when 20 million new ‘rat voters are amnestied. THey will vote ‘rat for life.
Easy. Send them back home to get in line with the other folks doing it legally and orderly.
Meanwhile, seize all of the illegals assets whenever and wherever found.
The people who voted for Obama could care less about “stealing American jobs”. These people steal the lives of the unborn.

They’ve got the Dem votes, they own the media, and the Republicans will probably spot them at least 2 and probably 4 votes in the Senate.
I think the general public has “outrage fatigue.” Bailouts, Deficits, Stimulus, GM takeover, Overseas America bashing/bowing, disarming, pirates, take your pick - I don’t know if anyone can muster the outrage for amnesty this time.
We need to decide what we can do to limit the damage and keep this “reform” as minimal as possible.

This is what broke my heart with George W. Bush. This is what turned us off on him. Not only the bill itself but when the people rose up against it...he said he would still push it. That was wrong, wrong, wrong. Now this guy wants to do the same thing. This now is wrong, wrong, wrong as well.
True, but the question is how many of the cool aide drinking republicans will line up and help him.
Its a poltical loser, what it is about is using the race card against the conservative holdout faction, from that they will pose less of a threat to his looting of America.
Amnesty for illegals is in the works, first the DREAM act and now this immigration “reform” push. The Democrats want the votes they need for their United States Socialist Republic (formerly the USA) and illegals are part of the vote count. Just counting the dead, Acorn’s ghosts and the regular Democrats isn’t enough.
